For those wondering why this beloved game is getting disliked to hell. First and foremost, this has nothing to do with the actual gameplay (which is fun and immaculate), but rather Sony's poor decision making.

Starting on June 4th, Users are required to have Steam and PSN linked in order to play Helldivers 2.

So what's the big deal and why is it an issue?

Up until now, this was an optional requirement. If this was enforced when the game first launch players that don't have a PSN account for personal region-based reasons would not have purchased this game. Since they are choosing to enforce this requirement months after launch, many of the players who fall into this group cannot get a refund for this game.

If it's just a PSN account that's free, what's the issue?

The three main reasons why players have an issue is one or more of the following.
1. Region-Based: Certain countries/regions of the world, cannot make PSN accounts. Choosing a country/region they do not live in is a violation of Sony's Terms of Service and could lead to an account termination.

2. Security Concerns: Over the past few years (2011, 2014, 2017, 2023 to be specific), Sony has had around 5-6 security breaches most of which has lead users' accounts and personal data to be compromised. Sony's track record with security is another major reason why players do not want to link their steam account with PSN.

3. Personal Choice: Many players may play games on exclusively PC or in addition to other non-PlayStation game consoles. Players feel that creating an account, for a system they may not own, to continue to play a game that they purchased is frankly absurd.

Regardless of the reason, many of players do not want to support this decision by Sony and will seek refunds or uninstall the game as a form of protest. Sony will only change this option if it risks hurting their bottom line.

Personally, my friends and I thoroughly enjoy the game and were looking forward to future releases. As much as I enjoy this game and hope Arrowhead Studios the best, I cannot recommend this game due to Sony's arbitrary account requirement.

I cannot recommend this game enough. I'm currently using it for the first campaign I'm DMing and it has been going well. Even if only the DM has it and is streaming it over discord or something similar there's still a good amount of value even if you have to give up certain features like hiding creatures. I recommend picking it up if your group plays online and definitely pick it up if it's on sale. The developers frequently update the game and keep everyone in the loop through dev logs on their discord. This tool has a bright future ahead of it for sure.

I haven't actually been able to play this game. Literally all this time was trying to get this game to launch. Unlike the other dead space games this one requires origin to launch and if you are unlucky like me and some others, you will not be able to play until you enter the key into origin. The key will appear in your DLC, but the problem is there is no way to access this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing before the game launch. Any attempt to try and solve through steam/origin will result in each company blaming each other for the problem and/or useless info from before the steam UI update. If you manage to actually play it good for you, if you encounter this problem good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck trying to fix it, in all honesty I'd just recommend getting a refund because steam and origin aren't gonna ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ help you with this ♥♥♥♥.
