This game has unique gameplay and requires lots of reading to solve the puzzles. You play as Anders, who wakes up one day late for his job interview only to find the house's door locked; he shares it with his sister Nara, who hid the key because she wants her brother to stay; she promised to give back the key if he plays a card game called The Old Throne, a very tricky game you need to beat to proceed in the story. The moment you finish the card game and leave, things change, and you wake up from a nightmare, only to realize you are living alone and your sister is nowhere to be found. You'll indulge in Anders's memories; some of them are disturbing and will keep you on the edge of your seat as you slowly unfold the mystery behind him and his sister.

I liked the artwork of this game; it is gorgeous and unique, mainly the coloring. The gameplay is a little bit difficult, as you have to adjust the atmosphere of the environment, as mentioned in Anders's journal. For example, you'd find things on a winter night but not on a spring morning. You only have one room to search but multiple instances for it. Everything in this game is clickable and has a meaning; the journal is the primary key to solving everything, so don't forget to click on each picture and item you have there. Speaking of items, you do have an inventory, but I wished we clicked on it instead of dragging the items and dropping them; even when you use the stuff, you need to use it as if it were a mobile game, which is not working well for PCs. I had a hard time figuring out what to do with the matches and how to use them.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3264408757

I enjoyed the soundtrack and the credit song, too. It all fits the atmosphere nicely, so I had to purchase it immediately after finishing the game. The game currently has three chapters, each focusing on a family member, and you must look around the same room to collect items and solve the puzzles. The achievements of this game are the story and some hidden items you need to collect, which are totally missable.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3094069619

Pros:
+Interesting story.
+Very fitting soundtracks.
+Chellenging puzzles (You must read the journal to figure out what to do)
+Eeirie atmosphere.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-The game could be confusing at the beginning.
-No hinting system.

There is a new addition to the game called The Lobby, a free chapter that definitely provides more information about this sad story; I highly recommend it to people who enjoy puzzles and reading!

This is the most underrated installment of the Final Fantasy series; it has a good story, character development, and a new battle style, which some people don't enjoy. You play as Lightning, a solitary young woman who doesn't speak a lot and focuses only on her mission. She is the main protagonist who seeks to save her younger sister, Serah, and as in all of the FF series, she groups up with strangers, and they all end up having the same goal of killing the last villain. I enjoyed the story and the characters, I won't spoil anything in this review because there are many unpredictable good twists in you understand the story well.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3185342870

As for the character's design and graphics, the game still looks solid, the cutscenes are very detailed, and everything looked great in it; the gameplay graphics are still good, but a remaster wouldn't be bad. The items and weapons are pretty tricky to obtain as there is no direct way to earn money other than selling items you collect; the same goes for the leveling, which needs lots of grinding in the second part of the game as the first part is very liner; you'll get access to teleport and explore an open world after a couple of chapters, the one game has 13 chapters, and each one focuses on a specific character as you'll not play Lightning the whole game.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3185306127

The combat system was newly introduced in this game; they called it Command Synergy Battle; you have to farm XP for each character and start building up a strategy; not all the character does the same thing; you'll have to mix between the below roles:

  • Commando (Attacker)
  • Ravager (Magic/caster)
  • Sentinel (Defense)
  • Saboteur (Debuffing)
  • Synergist (Enhancer)
  • Medic (Healer)

I played the game when it was out on PS3; this port is not wrong, and I haven't encountered any problems. I've played it using a controller; I haven't tried a keyboard yet. If you are, after gaining all your achievements, you'll have to invest hours into the game. It took me almost 21 hours to play the main story without side quests or trials.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3185315988

Pros:
+Good story with twists.
+Good English voiceovers.
+Interesting and likable characters.
+Good combat system.
+Great soundtracks.
+Good game length.
+Manual save.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-There are too many names that might make you feel lost and confused at the beginning of the game.

If you are a Final Fantasy fan or enjoy RPG games, give this game some love. It needs more attention, and the character's development and storytelling are its strong points. They made it into a trilogy, as two extra games follow this one to continue the story.
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2
  • Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

I highly recommend it.

This is a beautiful visual novel in the series Demonheart. This time, it is set in a different land and features various characters. You play as Shar, a young witch who moves in with Eniri, a famous witch everyone wishes to learn from. However, Shar's dreams of becoming the best witch have dissolved as she discovers a big secret Eniri is hiding; our protagonist will try to contact her mother, the oracle who can see the future and sense people's intentions; this time, she sends her a mysterious message keeping Shar thinking if all the people around her intending to harm her.

The love interest options are few; I prefer going with Sirath, the witch -Enari's- younger brother who hates your guts, a perfect tsundre since the other option is a lying demon who couldn't get through to me. Somehow, his personality didn't click with me at all. I have played half of his route, enjoying it, but I can't see myself fitting as a love interest as the story goes. The good thing is that this game has five different endings; I earned two, and it took me around 11 hours to do that; the game is good and has a high replay value.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3102506984

I found the side characters very interesting, and depending on your responses and doing favors to him, their fates will change at the end of the game. I wished Zhan was a love interest.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3102507378

Pros:
+Interesting story.
+Excellent writing.
+Choices and consequences.
+Beautiful soundtracks.
+Well-done voice-over.
+Good character design.
+Character development.
+Unlimited save files.
+Good game length.
+Multiple endings and routes (Total of 5 endings)
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-I wished there were more love interest options.

I enjoyed it so much that I know I'll get more content when I get the rest of the endings. Each option you choose will give you a different conversation branch tree. The game is enormous and a good read. I highly recommend it to people who enjoyed the first games and who are looking for an Otome VN.

I always support indie games and give any game a chance before reviewing them. Having played the prequel of Saint Kotar, I was so excited to play the full game, but god, that was a mistake. The story starts off with a conversation between two main characters you've already met in the prequel. However, you'll feel lost as they are speaking. The plot is not clear, even when you proceed into the game, they'll keep introducing new people, new names without a glossary or a journal to refer to who is whom, I even stopped playing thinking I might give it a go when I'm in the right mood but unfortunately, the game is dragging and very cringe. The main aspect of the story is looking for Viktoria, sister of Benedek and wife of Nikolay, the two men will unfold a mystery of the village they spent a couple of nights in while Viktoria being missing.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3250089553

There are multiple endings, only one is satisfying and explaining some of the questions I had running over and over in my head while playing the game. Now the game play is a visual novel disguised under a Point&Click, you'll move around the village and its surrounding areas multiple of times, although you have a map but alas it is not interactive, and you'd find yourself lost at times with the useless journal/task list you have in hand.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3227934145

The atmosphere and artwork is not bad though, I enjoyed some of the areas, however, the characters are very unlikable, all of them, although you can see there is a character development but it doesn't redeem them from what they've been saying and doing in all the hours I spend playing the game. I disliked the conversation options as few of them does a real impact on the game and give real consequences. You'll spend most of the hours watching the screen of two men arguing about Viktoria's whereabouts. The game is fully voiced, but sometimes it feels forced, some of the characters screaming was very annoying.

There is no hinting system, only hotspot the areas where you could interact with, you wouldn't know where to go next and you might get stuck in a loop running around, and the worst part there is no teleportation to any place, the characters can run but they are still slow. I don't recall any puzzles except for the maze. You do have inventory with items you rarely use, all what you do in the game is just talking to people, walking around, watching gore cutscenes, and people screaming, not mentioning the religious aspect of the game as well.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3227119594

Pros:
+Good scenery artwork.
+Playing with two different characters.
+Good soundtracks.
+Steam cloud.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-Mediocre story (It felt all over the place even with the multiple endings).
-Mediocre voice-overs (The prequel sounded better)
-No fast traveling map. (Lots of backtracking)
-Characters animation lacking.
-Unlikable characters.
-Few puzzles.
-No glossary or characters profiles to refer to. (Too many names are mentioned)
-Long conversations (You can't quit them)
-No hinting system (Only hotspots).

I'm very sad I couldn't enjoy this game, I thought it'd be fun to discover what it showed us in the prequel but all what I got is a story all over the place. I can't recommend it.

This is a real hidden gem, and I'm glad I was asked to play it, or I wouldn't have discovered it. Nearwood has everything you need in a hidden object game: a good story, a beautiful soundtrack, and gorgeous artwork. The story is about Jane, whose mother died mysteriously, and then his father disappeared. She grew up with her aunt, who later asked her to go to her parent's old house to discover a great family secret. The journey is very nice and entertaining.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3221556145

I can't get past the artwork's beauty, details, and color scheme; all of them are outstanding. The voiceovers are excellent, too. This game didn't fail with its soundtrack as well. I'm glad we could listen to them in the extras section once you finish the main game.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3221660177

The hidden object scenes are few, and this game plays more like an adventure than a regular HOG. However, it is still fun, as there are varieties of puzzles to enjoy. Some of them are tricky and require good thinking to solve. The characters' styles are cute, and the whole game's art looks like a fairy tale. The collectible creatures are so adorable; they are called Snoop-Sees; when you collect three of them, you'll unlock a page of their Snoopedia to read their journey.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3221537642

There is no journal, but the fast-traveling map is handy, showing you where the objectives are. However, you can't just fast-travel randomly because it has a cooldown, like a hint button.

Pros:
+Beautiful detailed artwork and locations.
+Good story.
+Beautiful soundtracks.
+Variety of puzzles.
+Good hidden objects scenes but few.
+In-game strategy guide.
+Collectables (Each three will unlock a page of the Snoopedia)
+Bonus Chapter.

Cons
-No journal.
-No Steam achievements.

I could play the game again; it was so entertaining and beautiful. Pick up this one if you are looking for a relaxing game with gorgeous artwork and soundtracks.

If you feel down and need a light-hearted story to cheer you up, pick this cute short novel about relationships nowadays. You play as a male and female couple looking at things from their perspective, how they think the other is neglected while thinking about them in their own way.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3207080224

There is no actual gameplay; you just click on specific things the character thinks about to execute their thoughts. You play six stages sequentially, and once you finish them all, you'll get a bonus scene.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3207080787

The game is perfect for achievement hunters or people who want to add cute achievements to their profile. The story is good but relatively short.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3207080295

Pros:
+Adorable artwork.
+Cute story about relationships. (Five scenarios)
+Nice soundtracks.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-Short.

The game is inspired by LoveChoice, which has similar gameplay and a love theme. If you enjoyed that game, you'll like this one.

This is a long and interesting prologue to Saint Kotar's game. You play as two men of God, Benedek and his brother-in-law Nikolay. The night before, they arrive at an eerie-looking village, and then Viktoria, Benedek's sister, disappears along with other weird things around them. You'll control the two characters, having the choice to trust each other and search for her together or part ways. In these three hours prologue, you'll learn some secrets about this strange village.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3194605561

I usually avoid religious-heavy games; Benedek gave me the impression that he is too godly and panicked for not finding his Bible. The developers mentioned that the game would not take that route, and it didn't look as it seemed, so I gave it a chance. Honestly, I enjoyed it despite not understanding anything from their conversations. It felt like I jumped into the middle of the game and missed many important topics. The conversations are slow, and I didn't like the interface of the answers, I didn't see the first answer and kept watching Nikoly searching into his bag until I realized I have to pick an answer which is written in a very small font with no indication around it.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3193672759

The voice acting is excellent. I loved the graphics and areas we visited; the scenery is well drawn. However, the characters' animation is lacking; I also noticed they open their mouth randomly or they don't at all while speaking.

During the conversations, you can't leave or pause the game; the problem is the conversation keeps going for too long, especially the last part with the shopkeeper. I couldn't leave to check outside or leave the conversation when I remembered something and wanted to do it before completing the topic. This made me wonder if the game is linear; despite mentioning multiple endings, I noticed that we must execute all the topics while taking, not choosing the ones we feel fit. I hope this is changed in the main game.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3193221041

Pros:
+Interesting psychological horror detective story.
+Good scenery artwork.
+Great voice acting.
+Playing with two different characters.
+Great soundtracks.
+Steam cloud.

Cons:
-No map.
-Characters animation lacking.
-Long conversations (You can't skip or quit them)
-No hinting system.
-No Steam achievements.

The story hooked me, and I'll play the full game. I recommend it to people who enjoy Point-and-Click psychological horror detective-style games.

This narrative puzzle game will trick you with its sweet and cute artwork while it is very dark and eerie. At the beginning of the game, you wake up in a basement with a book in front of you and a voice echoing in your ears, ordering you to bring a specific thing. Starting by searching for a 'beauty,' you'll have access to most of the house's rooms and garden, and when you achieve your goal, you'll find yourself waking up again in the basement with a new order. Will the loop keep on going, or will it end?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3187204513

The puzzles are challenging; some are straightforward, while the others require a lot of reading and digging through your stuff. You can collect items, combining or separating them before using them in some of the puzzles, and you also have some abilities that will reveal more information for you to proceed into the story. Remember that the game has two endings, and how you solve those puzzles is up to you. The good part is that in the third chapter, you'll gain teleportation access as you'll have to go between the rooms back and forth; this will cut the chase. The only thing I didn't like about this game is the lack of hints; if you are stuck, you'll be stuck until you figure out what to do; you can always search for a solution, but not everyone wants to follow a guide. A hint and a skip button are necessary for some annoying puzzles.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3189066751

I loved the soundtrack; it fits the atmosphere nicely, and each episode has its tone. After finishing the game, I had to buy the album; the artist did a great job with the theme song. The artwork is so cute and cartoonish; the main character looks lifeless yet cute. I especially like the little zipper behind his back, where he stores all the items we pick up. The notebook contains information about Insects (Which might trigger some people with the artwork) and lots of botany information you'll need in your playthrough.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3189063958

Pros:
+Beautiful artwork and character design.
+Interesting dark story.
+Beautiful soundtracks.
+Challenging puzzles.
+Fast traveling.
+Eeirie atmosphere.
+Two endings.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-No hinting system.
-You can't skip puzzles.

You might feel bored as the game starts very slowly. Try the first chapter, and you'll be hooked for the rest. It took me almost five hours to beat the game without a guide. Recommended to puzzle lovers.

Is This The Circle of Life?

A free episode of Rusty Lake series where we will witness William Vanderboom's soul awaken in a strange room and be reborn again with the help of Frank, Leonard, and Rose, three timepieces they acquired in the previous game Roots this game takes place in an afterlife like dream, where you can move from a place to another, searching for items from parallel worlds to be fully resurrected.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3174059764

Like the previous games, you'll be in a room checking all four sides to find items to make you proceed to the next objective. Some of the puzzles were confusing since you'd have to move from one dimension to another and take items from one place to another. I wish they'd add hints to the series one day, as you'll find yourself stuck with nothing to do until you spot that little item you need to use.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3174059670

The soundtracks fit the atmosphere as usual, the artwork is the same as the whole series, and they even used the same items in the previous rooms. I'm not complaining; I like that they always stick to the same theme.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3174059481

Pros:
+Free.
+Interesting story (Must play the others to understand it).
+Good soundtracks.
+Chellenging puzzles.
+Eeirie atmosphere.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-No steam overlay. You can't take screenshots.
-The story could be confusing; you must play the series' other games to understand it.
-No hinting system. Sometimes, you get stuck and don't know what to do next.

This short game was released to celebrate the series' 5th anniversary. It is an excellent, short, and sweet addition to the story. It is recommended to people who enjoy the series and those who love escape room puzzles.

I grew up with King's quest classic series and the 6th one was my ultimate favorite, this remake did justice to one of the best games from Sierra. King's quest is a narration of Graham’s story from his point of view, his tale was very interesting to his grandchild who was looking forward to hear it in every little detail from the beginning until the end, each chapter covers a huge chunk of the story and packed with varieties of puzzles.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2110229098

The artwork is unique and beautiful, I've played the game when it first released back in 2015 and the graphics still standing well today. the animation is nice as well as the voice acting, they all did well. The soundtracks are magical, it gives hints of the classic original soundtracks but with a twist, everything about this game is nostalgic to people who played the original
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2110228706

The character development is superb even for the minor characters, you'll have the choice to side with some of them at some point, and you can choose your bride as well as who to save, there are multiple choices and consequence in each chapter and will carry out on the next one, this made the game has a high replay value.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2178636506

Pros:
+Adaption of the classic story with many humor moments.
+Great soundtracks.
+Multiple chapters covering the classic games (First chapter for free)
+Very well done voice over.
+Beautiful artwork.
+Good animation and characters design.
+Choices and consequences.
+High replay value. Has multiple outcomes.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
- No manual save.

This is one of the few games that hits me hard and made me cry. I honestly wish if I could forget it and play it all over again. Highly recommended, you can play the first episode for free and enjoy the adventure.
