So in general I think the game is great. I've sunk a lot of time into this game and have enjoyed most of it. This game being a more casual experience from POE and Diablo I found it to be enjoyable because I can just hack n slash and not think that much.

That being said, I think the Hero Siege 2.0 is good as well though. While the game play is good, I think Hero Siege 2.0 has lost some of its soul. I didn't get the chance to play season one, but I've been grinding in season 2 pretty hard. I've been stuck on a broken quests after you kill meavius and go into the next dlc zone. I cant really progress due to the bugs but whatever I can just get ports from other players. The game play loop is still solid for the most part.

MTX discussion: I personally do not care that they added in tabs to buy or even a small subscription with some bonos. However, I think they could have implemented it better adding in more cosmetics or even a battle pass to reward time played. The reason why I don't care; is due to me having purchased the game for $2.00 a couple years back. This game was virtually free and I couldn't support the devs any further except through skins. This game added in very mild Pay for convenience items, and didn't go fully down the direction of whale bait or anything of that nature. The people that are blowing this up see it as a more changing of something they onced loved, instead of seeing it as giving a small studio some steady money so they could probably hire / work out the bugs that have been plaguing the game for some time.

It's crazy to think that developing a game is purely trial and error especially when you're an indi studio. Bug fixing and can tedious, annoying or just requiring way more work than one would expect. Which I can forgive to some extent, as long as im still getting drops and loot I could really care less.

Things I really miss: I miss the chat spamming for key rotations, I remember when cloud keys were a thing and they were so much fun to do a long rotation of them with friends to finally get that sheep kings item you always wanted, that just took your build to the next level. Furthermore, I really wish they didn't implement a 500% drop chance on certain zones. This in itself is incredibly unhealthy for the game because it doesn't promote grinding outside of those small windows to get toot. If i'm doing anything else and I catch wind that a 500% zone has arrived I feel the need to stop what i'm doing and just grind. I think this could have been implemented way better.

I did leave a lot of fluff out, but I still think the game is a solid 8.5/10.

Games okay, banana guard has to go. Having dominate air, ground. and a side special that just beats damn near everything and cant easily be punished as a brawler. Yeah no, delete this garbage character. Stop making crutch classes for bad people.

I'm kinda in the middle for this game. The game play for sure can be fun, but you can really tell they added a bunch of extra un-needed stuff like flying to the map just so they can monetize ways to make money on that. In addition, the characters you originally start with are okay, but the more you play, the more you realize that, "Fire rate = faster kills". There was only one match where some dude with a DMR outclasses me due to his natural talent.

This game is about to leave beta and yet the setting almost never save for me so I have to re-adjust them every time I want to play. In addition, some of the maps are terribly optimized. I don't have a godly computer by any means but my friends with 3080s are bottle-necking at 40-60fps and this game doesn't have impressive graphics.

Lastly how the player goes about mastering guns and unlocking characters is probably one of the most cash grab methods of monetization I've ever seen. You basically have two options, either upgrade your guns milestones for 1-3k currency just so you can master it faster. OR you can save for about a week and watch their adds to maybe HOPEFULLY have enough for a character that has a decent gun / talents.

They could have just monetized the game like they did paladins and no one would have complained.

While the game-play can be fun with friends, this game in every other facet is disappointing. In some ways it seems like a worse paladins.

I forgot to mention the fact that they didnt add in a text chat system, I can see why but cmon.

So with everything I just mentioned this game is a 4.5/10.

TLDR: Gameplay is fun but monetization and how player go about obtaining anything is ludicrous especially the heros you have to buy have way better talents than base characters.

After playing way longer I realized a player that's way above average will get put into groups with one really bad player and two bots. Game is beyond boring and unbalanced team wise. I have a 2.5kd I average 5k dmg and 30-40elims. I've counted the number of games back to back that it was a 1v4 and so far it's 10 in a row. Very bad game with team balance.

This is my first game entering this genre. As soon as I launched the game I've could tell how much labor & love went into this game. I'm properly addicted, story, guns, abilities, upgrades are for the player enjoyment and you can tell the developers want you to have fun in their environment. This game is a solid 10/10.

Games okay for a first project, being able to turn the camera to a full 360 in the Y direction is a fail. UI is terrible, cant even read the spells fast enough before they dissipate.

At the time of writing this review I have just finished the story and am now just starting Expeditions.

Graphics & Aesthetics
------------------------
The game is beautiful as expected from an Enix game.
The game actually runs smooth on average Pcs, I manage to get 80-100Fps.
The enemies are pretty unique although you come to realize there's like 6-7 different types of enemies.
The story of the game is incredibly unique and I think they did a perfect job capturing player interest through the prologue.

Game play & Difficulty
-----------------------
The game with it's world tier system is a unique way to increase the games difficulty at the whim of the player.
The missions & story elements match and feels natural.
The game is naturally difficult when going through the story due to the world tier system. I've only experienced two bosses where I had to lower my world tier.
The only frustration I've had in the game was during boss fights and having to lower my world tier (Thanks ego)

Playing with friends & Joining friends
---------------------------------------
I'm not the first person to comment about this, but as stated millions of times there are some network issues that don't allow players to join their friends.
Through playing with my friends we found a weird bug where everyone was able to join one of my friends but couldn't join anyone else.
I can imagine the developers will fix these issues as fast as they can. So I wasn't too worried about this.

Negatives
-----------

When actually joining friends the monsters scale to the host and not the lowest level in the group. This naturally wouldn't be an issue in games like these, if the level scaling didn't mainly depict on how strong the player is against the world. Through this, if you're 5 levels or under your friends, you will virtually be doing no damage and are just tagging along for the xp and items. (Lowering world tier only helps so much at the expense of items & xp).

I wish there was more end game, I've done one expedition and I thought it was really fun & I cant wait to grind them out. But after beating the game I was given a new area in which i'm pretty much stuck in and there's nothing else to explore unless you love 100%ing games. It would have been nice to join a hub world or even a camp where I can revisit all the other areas of the game without having to change the story line. (I'm not sure if I can).

Positives
---------
The game play is unique along with all the characters and how they function. In addition to this, depending on the players play style, (I chose the tank). This is the only game where I'm on the edge of my chair and feeling as if I could die at any time. Through the difficulty of the game I feel as if Enix perfectly captured the high octane game play category this game deserves.

There is an END GAME, I'm happy in the fact that after beating the story, the player still has missions and adventures to go on, even though they're locked in an isolated area. I've always been a fan of grinding missions & levels in hopes for better rewards.

The game is fun with friends (like any other). Even though we've all experienced network problems, we still play together and have a blast.

Before you buy
----------------
There's network issues so if you're looking for stability when playing with friends or joining, I suggest you wait it out until it's fixed.

That's about it, I hope everyone that's interested in this game takes my review to heart & understands that games don't run 100% perfect on launch. It's the life of a developer to fix these issues and it's best not to make judgements too early based on bugs that occur on launch.

Developing games is an art in which isn't perfect by any means. While the game lives on I'm sure there will be hundreds of bug fixes in dealing with the game and the network.

Thanks Enix for giving me an experience I wont forget & thank you more for making a prologue that was actually unique and interesting and grasped my attention all the way to the end.

To start this review off id like to mention this is probably one of the better rogue like games I have played thus far.
The gameplay: As every game you play, when you first start off it's quite challenging. The more rounds you play the further you will get. There's tons of weapons that players can use that cater to their specific play style. And not to mention a passive progression system that allows the player to upgrade their character despite having lost the run.

Concerns with guns: So far all guns are viable but to get a game winning run, it really depends on the affixes the guns have. I've had really easy runs whenever I got a heavy base damage weapon that rolls either corrosion or lightening and if it rolls with 65% elemental damage you're in the home run. Due to these stats being in the game, it feels like I NEED them to have a chance at the last boss. Having a gun with luck chance + element conversion + decay + elemental damage and if you can get the 200% increased headshot damage it's probably the best setup you could ever get (i've gotten it once with the gauntlet and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was OP 20k per tick). From what i've mentioned before and you obtain a little more experience, you will start to end your runs prematurely until you get a gun with decent base stats, or that's how I feel about it.

Game Concerns: There's heavy amount of lag when entering rooms (This only happens in later stages for me) . When I get to the last boss it's almost unplayable, not because of lag but because the AOE move he does with the cannons registers before the phase transition it over and fires before I can move my character. Despite that bug when I actually can move my character and get to the next stage, the same thing applies, the cannons will fire the explosives before I can react due to the stage swaps. In the final stage of the boss fight, there will follow more lag + stage delay and the bosses cannon move wont register a circle and will just obliterate me. ( I could be fighting the boss wrong but I dont really know the issue). I still havent locked a full completion yet but I've gotten really close, Not because of technical skill more so to my op guns. Every boss feels great besides the last boss.

Conclusion: I really enjoy this game, but knowing that there's only certain traits on guns that will give me a run with ease can get a bit tiresome. That, coupled with stage lag and buggy transitions on the last boss make playing this game feel like a chore to get a win. Otherwise I would say this is a really solid alpha build I rate this a solid 8/10 at the moment.

[EARLY REVIEW]

This game is AMAZING! So amazing that I decided to gift my friend a copy of this game. The combat is rewarding at higher times(levels I guess?. The rng gearing can lead to some funny situations. Example > Had over 40 items in the hahahaha stages. Used a shrine > got 36 keys, 17 rocket launchers and kept my good gear. I thought this was the end of the road, then I find a syringe 3d printer and a crit glasses 3d printer. I've never in my life seen a ninja attack so fast! The gameplay feels so rewarding.

The only cons I have with this though is most runs are rng (loot based) If you dont have certain items by the time you're in the haha stages you might be out of luck on the next few boss fights.

Would I recommend this game in its current state? YES FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY YES.
