Gears for Breakfast was not lying when they said this game was cute as heck.
This is probably the only platformer I have ever played that has kept me smiling the entire time I was playing. From the silly characters to the expansive worlds, this game is truly one of a kind.

Yooka-Laylee, the rebirth of the 3D platforming genre, has finally arrived.
And I am loving it.

As of writing this review, I have put in 8.6 hours into the game, so I can't judge every nook and cranny of the game just yet. However, I can and will give you my "general gist" review. This is also being written by a long-time fan of Banjo-Kazooie (and collect-a-thons in general), and a backer since the very beginning.

Yooka-Laylee is (as mentioned above) an attempt to revive the 3D plaforming genre of video games, such as the likes of Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo-Kazooie. Made by the same developers that made those games, the package is complete: quirky British humor, an animal-buddy duo, a villain with crooked teeth (that sadly doesn't rhyme), large open worlds and boat loads of collectibles to get your hands on. Also, the game's music is composed by the three legendary composers Grant Kirkhope, David Wise, and Steve Burke. While some tracks are not in the same style/consistancy despite being played in the same world, this game will have you humming the same tunes for days.

There are two hub worlds (Shipwreck Creek and Hivory Towers) and five main worlds, with a total of 20 Pagies, 200 quills, 5 Ghost Writers, One Health Increaser, One Power Increaser, One Play Coin, and One Mollycool (yes, the pun is intentional) per main world. Let's just say you'll be busy for quite some time.

There is also a multiplayer mode where you can play some arcade-styled minigames with a group of friends. I haven't tried this out yet, so I'll come back and edit this once I do that.

Now, I've seen people jump on the negative review bandwagon quite a few times. The negative points mostly come from technical issues, such as frame drops, camera problems, etc. However, I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop running this game on my system's deafault setting of "Fastest". The game runs perfectly fine for me. In regards of the camera, I didn't have a problem with it at all. Either I'm just oblivious to the so called "issues" or people just don't know how to keep their camera in order.

Other negative points include the sections where it's not a platformer anymore. For example, the Kartos minecart sections. I actually kinda enjoyed those sections since it takes a brief break from the platforming action and delivers something a little more fresh (depending on your definition) to the table. Think of them as 2D versions of the minecart sections from Donkey Kong 64.

Then there's the Rextro 64 minigames. I will call these sections my least favorite. While interesting in concept, the loose controls on most of them just bring the experience down for me. I'm just hoping it isn't too chaotic in the multiplayer modes...

All in all, Yooka-Laylee is a good game. If you're a fan of Banjo-Kazooie? Go for it! If you're not a fan, then you may wanna stay away.

If you're still on the fringe because of all the bad reviews its been getting, I just say play it for yourself. FORM YOUR OWN OPINION.

This was one of my childhood favorites. I remember when I had my old PC and had this and all of the expansion packs on it. It was just so much fun!

FEATURES:
- You can create roller coasters (duh).
- You can hire staff to entertain your visitors/clean up your park/fix your rides.
- You can rename individal people and staff to deliver torture to your worst enemy!
- You can build at such places as Alcatraz Prison and the Great Wall of China!
- You can also create food stands, souvenier shops, etc.
- You can be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and charge people to use the only toilet in your park.

There are some downsides to this game however. For example:
- It will crash every now and again, but that's just because the game is old.
- The isometric view may screw you up a bit when it comes to building your coasters.
- Other bugs that I may have forgotten to mention.

This game for me only got better when I discovered OpenRCT2, a mod that enhances the game. BIG time.
Here's the link:
https://openrct2.org/

I definitely reccommend getting OpenRCT2 if you truly want to expand your experience with this game.

OpenRCT2 Features:
- Can make rides go faster than 500 mph! (Caution: this may crash the game if used excessively in one park)
- Can change the carts of every ride to something else (I.E: Replacing the regular roller coaster carts with a tram)
- Fixes (most) bugs from the original game.
- Adds in cheats so you can manipulate your customers/park to your very whim!
- Adds in MULTIPLAYER!! That's right, MULTIPLAYER!! (I haven't tried it for myself yet, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is impressive to convert a game like this into a multiplayer experience)
- Fixes (most) crashes, unless you cause the crashes yourself.

Do I reccommend this game by itself? Yes.
Do I reccommend this game with OpenRCT2? The definitive choice.

10/10 for me.

As a bonus, here's some tips for both the standalone game and OpenRCT2 (based on the "Build Your Own Six Flags Park" Scenario):
- Start slow. Don't go right into building coasters. Build food stands and simple rides (Ghost House, for example) until you have enough people in your park. Otherwise, you will have blown all of your money and spent at least $20,000 of your $100,000 loan.
- Go easy on the inversions for most rides. You can have a big coaster with a lot of inversions, but don't do it for every ride. Not only does it become confusing after a while, but your guests won't like it.
- (OPENRCT2 ONLY) You can go fast, but don't go TOO fast. 200 mph should be fine, but don't do a 50 lap coaster going at 500 mph. This will probably crash the game.
- (OPENRCT2 ONLY) Turn on the cheat "Unlock all prices". That way, if you feel you're struggling with finances, you can charge people to go on your coasters. You'll thank me later.
- (OPENRCT2 ONLY) In multiplayer, don't be that guy that destroys one's park for the hell of it. If you want to get the most fun out of multiplayer, cooperate and come up with unique ideas for rides together.

The reason why it says I only have roughly 1.3 hours is because playing OpenRCT2 doesn't show that you're playing RCT2 on Steam. OpenRCT2 is its own executable file that relies on the RCT2 binaries/files.

Also, be sure to name your 3D Cinemas "The Legend of Harambe" and set the theme to "Storm Chasers". You'll thank me later.

Sweet land of liberty, where do I begin?

I've owned this game since I was about five years old (not the best parenting choice, was it?), and I loved it. When I found out it was on Steam, the nostalgia rammed into me like a train.
And it turns out that nostalgia is still hitting me as we speak.
Unreal Gold is essentially a bundle of both the original Unreal (the singleplayer campaign), and Unreal Tournament 99 (the multiplayer and botmatch portion). Both are very enjoyable and nice to come back to every now and again.

As a child, I mostly did botmatches because they were so much fun! There were a variety of gamemodes, weapons, and maps (Radikus and Tundra being my favorites). The gameplay is pretty fast paced, which keeps every match interesting.

In regards to the singleplayer, it is sort of a "figure out where to go by yourself" sort of campaign. I don't know too much of the story, but all I know is that you crash land on a planet and you were apparently a prisoner of some kind.

Plus, the online mode is STILL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FUNCTIONAL. Holy Jesus this blew my mind when I tried it for the first time. Some servers have mods that change the gameplay entirely, or give you new weapons to toy with. It definitely was worth waiting a minute or so.

In conclusion, if you like aliens, fast paced combat, O.P bazookas, nostalgic environments and violence up the wazzoo, get this game. You won't regret it. (Unless you are a slow-paced shooter playing scrublord. I'm looking at you, C.O.D players.)

I bought this during the Christmas sale.
I want my hours of talking to Augustus Ceasar back.
Plz.

That aside, the game is very well made. I reccommend it if you have a couple hours of your time.

Early Access Review
After many (many) Nightly Build updates, Chucklefish released the stable build for the game.
And damn, I am impressed.
Compared to the version I played first (I think it was Enraged Koala), the new update (known as Upbeat Giraffe) is very, very... well, amazing.
There is a new race to play as, known as the Novakids. They seem like what Space Cowboys would look like in space. My character, Sherriff Plasmashard, has advanced fairly far into the game and there are lots of things to talk about.
I think I'll just stick with Navigation and whatnot for now.
Your ship now comes installed with an A.I (luckily more friendly than GLaDOS) called S.A.I.L. S.A.I.L informs you on quests and places you should go. Also, S.A.I.L is the place where you can 3D print your objects and view your unlocked technology.
Apart from S.A.I.L, the navigation system of the game has changed. It tells you what kind of planet it is, how big it is, and even how long the days last on the planet. It also shows potential weather hazards so you know what to bring with you.
Although I haven't bothered with it yet, you can upgrade your ship supposedly up to 8 tiers. I've seen some pictures and gameplay, and I just have to say it looks like some Star Wars ♥♥♥♥ just popped up.
The game in general is very fun and occasionaly humourous, for the inhabitants that can appear on certian planets may or may not know who the living hell you are.
