Bethesda and Nightdive Studios have blessed us with a fantastic remaster of Quake II with new features such as enhancements to models, lighting, and gameplay; and more content including a brand new campaign from Machine Games, the N64-exclusive campaign, the two expansion packs and the id Vault containing information about the game's weapons, items, enemies, and even its development with playable cut/early maps.

All that for free if you already own the game or $10 if you haven't yet, which is quite generous to see from a AAA company when there's another certain popular company trying to charge $50 for a simple port of an old game not even coming to next-gen platforms and PC.
I'm just saying, this enhanced version of Quake II like its predecessor is how games should be remastered.

This free short game may be made for April Fools but it's unironically one of the better Sonic games released in recent times thanks to having an intriguing mystery complemented with competent witty writing and amazingly hand-drawn art. It's always great to see the Sonic cast having sincere characterisations and natural interactions with each other like real characters after a decade of them acting shallow so this gives me hope for the future of the franchise again if they keep this up.

I know it's not the main developers at Sonic Team who made this game but it's nice to know there's at least some people at Sega that knows how to handle Sonic properly.
Heck, I think it's a good idea for Sega to experiment different game genres with the Sonic the Hedgehog IP for April Fools Day. It's a perfect opportunity for them to just do fun takes on genres that Sonic don't usually do and since it'd be just a short game with a goofy idea for April Fools, they don't have to invest a lot of resources in them either. If done well, it'd make people happy for having a pleasant time just like this game for its take on visual novels.

Anyway, If you're like me who enjoys the kind of visual novels that features murder mysteries where you have to play detective to figure out the culprit like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Danganronpa, then you'd enjoy this little game. More so if you're a Sonic fan of course.

One has not truly experienced DMC3 until they accidentally overwrite their Dante save with their Vergil save (or vice versa), because muscle memory.

That's how you know the game is truly great, it motivates you to beat it again.

Pizza Tower is a marvellous and humorous video game that everyone should definitely play, especially if you love the Wario Land series. I backed it on Patreon which provided early builds of the game so it's been quite a journey to see how the game progressed since then and after all these years, the final release delivers splendidly. Like eating a hot delicious pizza, you know.

Controlling Peppino feels smooth as butter and you better learn his moveset to get the most out of the game as nothing could be more satisfying than beating each level perfectly in a fast flow by discovering all secrets, getting treasure, even doing a time-limited second lap while maintaining a high combo of clearing out enemies to get the highest and elusive "P" rank.
The game just feels great to play and although you can finish it at your own pace, you're encouraged to beat it as fast as you can. It's not really hard either, just tricky to master but it's certainly a lot of fun to pull it off right.

Another great thing about this game is its art style.
As much as I love retro-style pixel art, I can't get over how gorgeous the visuals look here.
I absolutely adore how the game looks like a mix of 90's cartoons and goofy MS Paint drawings.
Not only that, it's well animated too as the game feels so alive with the sprites being very expressive and fluid.

Of course, how could I not talk about the game's fantastic soundtrack?
There's so many great memorable tracks in this game to listen to that you could probably even tell which talented musician did which track since each one has their own recognisable style, with one of the composers' songs being fittingly quirky with familiar soundfonts while the other one leans to having live instruments like guitars and saxophones.

I would say this game overall is close to perfect since I can't really think of anything to criticise it, just suggestions on what the developers could do to improve it further like integrated mod support and level editor, or perhaps even revisit cut content.
I know that a new playable character update is coming so there's that at the very least.

So yeah, go get Pizza Tower. You know you want it.
It's already one of the best games that came out this year and you would not regret it.
And remember that if you hurt Peppino too many times, you're going to hell before you die. Please.

Final Horizon Expansion

Sonic Frontiers is a pleasant surprise!
Despite its poor initial marketing, the game actually turned out to be good. Really good.
Most critics says it's good, fellow players say they liked the game, and I myself have very much enjoyed with it so far.
Now I'm not saying that the game is fantastic of course but I do believe this game puts the series on the right direction that it so desperately needs after the mediocrity that was Sonic Forces, Sonic Lost World and pretty much how the franchise was handled in the past decade.

The game is pretty much an open-world platformer collectathon starring Sonic the Hedgehog
You're on an island and you have to collect things to progress the story and level up your stats by doing the many activities that the world offers ranging from platforming, doing obstacle courses, solving puzzles, fighting minibosses, playing traditional-style stages and even fishing.
That's pretty much the gameplay loop and it's actually quite fun to do as you explore the world with fast traversal.

The Controls
As long as you select "High Speed Style" when starting the game, Sonic feels good to control as his movement is tight and flexible which makes navigating across the world fun as you do it so swiftly.
It's also possible to use momentum to make big jumps from ramp-like structures or from rails while boosting.
The only thing I don't like about the controls though is that there's no deceleration as Sonic will just stop on a dime once you let go of the analog stick (or movement keys) which does indeed feel off.
Please, do not pick "Action Style" when starting the game because it'll make Sonic disgustingly slow and even the gravity becomes heavy which makes airtime feel not as good.
Thankfully, you can readjust the gameplay settings in the middle of the game.

The Combat
This time around, combat has become more elaborated as Sonic needs to do more than simply doing homing attacks on enemies. Your initial fighting ability is button-mashy but you'll be able to spice it up with button combos by unlocking new abilities from the skill tree, because of course you do these days.
Once Sonic is equipped with these new abilities, the combat can actually be fun to do, especially on tougher enemies and minibosses where doing a variety of attacks in a single combo can be quite satisfying.
I should also mention that you can dodge and parry attacks as well, the latter of which is quite generous as you don't need to precisely time it right to counterattack your enemies.

Oh and once you finally get to face off against a major boss, the game hits you hard with songs that are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lit and you become Super Sonic which makes the encounter feel awesome as you utilise all your fighting abilities that have gotten even more powerful. Sonic feels like a badass during these moments which is something I deeply miss after so long.

The Writing and The Lore
I won't speak so much of this, especially since I've yet to finish the game and I don't want you to be spoiled of course, but if you're a fan of Sonic games from the 2000's and you don't like the Saturday Morning style of writing in 2010's games, then you'll most likely going to enjoy the story of this game, how the characters are portrayed and the continuity nods to the lore that's been established in Sonic games prior to 2010 where since then, the interesting lore was pretty much ignored.

Okay, this might not be a big deal but there are people like myself that highly appreciates this sort of thing where there's a sense of connection between the games with the background of the Sonic universe feeling rich with fascinating details.
It's what I loved about the series where, aside from the gameplay, the games' universe used to be quite imaginative and I hope Sega would continue to focus and expand upon it as lore can make games real interesting.

Ian Flynn, the writer of this game who also wrote the Sonic comics that are said to be really good, is a blessing to the Sonic franchise and I highly encourage Sega / Sonic Team to keep him along as he understands the characters and the world well.

The Not So Good Parts
While I do believe this is the best 3D Sonic game in recent years (though that's probably not saying much), it's not without its flaws unfortunately and I wish Sonic Team would improve upon them for their next Sonic game.

While Starfall Islands can look beautiful at times, it's still not a very exciting place to explore when previous Sonic games had exotic locations with unique landscapes. I get that it fits with the somber context of the game but it still hurts it as people are put off with how it looks like an Unreal template project and wouldn't give the game a chance because of that.

It also doesn't help that the game is full of floating platforms and rails that don't look thematic enough with the environment when the world could've been designed full of landmarks with platforms and railings actually integrated with the environment.

While this game doesn't suffer major technical issues like Sonic Colours Ultimate and Sonic Origins, this game does have this glaring pop-in which can be really annoying for those who are sensitive to it.
Personally, I don't find it distracting enough to hinder my experience but it definitely needs to be fixed.

Lastly, the Cyber Space stages could've been better with more than 4 themes and elaborated level layouts that aren't simplified versions of existing levels from previous Sonic games.
I get they're meant to be remixes but I rather see new original level designs.
Also, I'm really sick of seeing Green Hill and Chemical Plant being reused again and I wish Sega / Sonic Team would stop revisiting them so much. We're tired of the nostalgia pandering, please stop.
I don't care if they're meant to represent Sonic memories because obviously, that's just a lousy excuse to reuse them.

Conclusion
I know non-Sonic fans might think this game isn't great but I truly have a good time with it and it surprises me that Sonic Team actually developed a competently-made game that is at least decent after years of games that are arguably duds.
This is indeed the right direction for the Sonic series, it's on the right track with an enjoyable gameplay formula, promising writing and of course, a well-crafted soundtrack even though the latter is already usually great with Sonic games.
Seriously, this game is a good one as the majority of fans will enjoy it and I'm sure reasonable non-fans would too if they're willing to check it out with an open-mind.

This has been mostly a great year for Sonic as it started out with a second movie that is better than the first one whilst exploding the franchise's popularity even further, the first four classic games have been made more accessible thanks to Sonic Origins (even though it's not the definitive way to play them as it has some problems), and Sonic Frontiers came out to be good in the end as the general consensus who played it agrees it is despite its awkward marketing.
The future is looking pretty bright for the blue hedgehog if Sega keeps the momentum up.

With the mix of POSTAL 1's dark tone, POSTAL 2 and 4's comedy and The-3-That-Must-Not-Be-Named's Corey Cruise comes POSTAL: Brain Damaged, one of the best games I've ever played this year for just how enjoyable it is.

It's just really fun as it's a mash between boomer shooters and DOOM Eternal as people would say, and I find it much more humorous than the latest POSTAL 4 for being more topical which would make for a nice, albeit quirky, time capsule.
The low-poly pixelated art style and interesting level themes are great too, and being able to slide jump around makes the movement quick and fun.

I very much recommend it for fans of the POSTAL games and anyone who enjoys a well-made boomer-shooter style of game. You would not be disappointed by this fantastic game. Hell, this spin-off title of the franchise might actually be the best POSTAL game to date for being very stable, having solid gameplay, and amusing silly humour.
If this game ever gets expansion DLC or even a sequel by the same talented developers, I would love to see it.

This game is great. Really. But I don't really want to recommend it right now because this game has a lot of problems due to IO Interactive's decisions I can't stand. I would rate this game with a Mixed rating if I could but for now, this review is negative because I'm more disappointed than I am happy on how the developers are handling this game.

This is going to be long but to put it shortly: don't get the game for full price and wait for either a massive sale or a complete edition. I'm sure you do not want to invest too much money for a game with less content than the previous two games and overpriced DLCs with very little value to make up for the price. Also, the game still requires online connection for progression.

The Total Cost and Packages
If you thought buying content for the previous game was confusing enough, this one takes the cake.
There's the Standard Edition and then the Deluxe Edition for HITMAN 3. Simple right? Okay, how about this?
There's also the Trilogy Premium Add-Ons Bundle, Seven Deadly Sins Collection, and Access Pass: HITMAN 2 Gold for HITMAN 3.
If you're a newcomer, I'm sure you're definitely confused and it doesn't help that the store page does not explain these packages very well. But never mind that because the total cost of these packages is insane and it's going to be even more ridiculous in the future.

If a player wants to have every content for HITMAN 3, they would have to pay over A$188.99 for the base game, Deluxe Pack, and the Seven Deadly Sins Collection. Soon, there's going to be more paid DLCs for the game since more maps are coming as part of an upcoming new storyline as well as a rougelite mode is coming soon. If you think the Deluxe Pack would come with the Seven Deadly Sins Collection or Year/Season Passes, you're sorely mistaken I'm afraid.

In comparison to the previous games, it's A$81.24 for everything in HITMAN 1 (GOTY) and A$139.95 for everything in HITMAN 2 (Gold Edition). Steep prices but you'd get to have every DLC for these games.
The Gold Edition for HITMAN 2 has been around since the game was available for pre-order and for its price, you'd receive all expansions for that game. There's no such edition for HITMAN 3. H3's Deluxe Pack should've had an expansion pass since it's the same price as H2's Gold Edition but nope, so get ready to invest a lot of money for this game if you want all DLC or wait a while for a massive sale, or wait even longer for an affordable complete edition maybe.

Here's another problem though, the current DLCs for HITMAN 3 aren't substantial enough for $40+.

Overpriced Undervalued DLCs
Unlike the Gold Edition of HITMAN 2 that provides an expansion pass that grants you access to:
- 2 New Sandbox Locations with a Story Mission each
- 3 Sniper Assassin Missions, each set on different unique Locations
- 4 Special Assignments on 4/6 of the base game's maps.
- Some Suits and Items

The Deluxe Edition of HITMAN 3 gives you access to the Deluxe Pack that simply just have:
- 6 Deluxe Escalations, which aren't as significant as actual missions. Online only.
- Some Suits and Items
- Director Commentary, Online only.
- Digital Soundtrack
- Digital “World of HITMAN” Book
- NO Pass for Future Expansions

I mean the digital goodies are cool and the Escalations are fine but I wouldn't say they're worth A$40-54.
They're nowhere as great as the Gold or even the Silver Edition of HITMAN 2 that provided new locations and missions.

Then you have The Seven Deadly Sins Collection and guess what, they're all just short paid sin-themed Escalations with items and suits for A$ 44.59 altogether. And because Escalations are not like actual missions and they're online-only content... yeah.
These were the DLCs that the game received in its first year and it's very disappointing when you consider how substantial the content from H2's expansions were. Only get the collection when it's on sale because the value it offers isn't so significant.

Hopefully the DLCs for the game's second year will be a lot better and comparable to the likes of H2's expansions.

Not The Definitive Edition
For a trilogy that was originally meant to be one game from the start, you would think that the last/third game of the trilogy would have every content from the previous games (if you own them). Well unfortunately, this game cut out some content that the previous games had.

HITMAN (2016) had The Sarajevo Six Missions (which were PlayStation exclusive though), 38 Escalations and 6 Challenge Packs.
HITMAN 2 had Ghost Mode, Sniper Assassin Co-op Mode, and 13 Challenge Packs.
None (or at least very few) of the Escalations have been carried over to the third game.
The multiplayer modes probably won't be revisited and the Challenge Packs will not be returning, especially since the rewards are now unlocked differently.

With that being said, the new unlock requirements for items that used to be rewards for completing Challenge Packs is rather lame, because these challenges encouraged you to not only replay the game differently but to search for user-made contracts. They're a good incentive.

Now in HITMAN 3 where they removed challenge packs, they're unlocked by simply filling up mastery levels, completing a number of Escalations or complete a number of Featured Contracts.

Given how the first few batches of Featured Contracts for HITMAN 3 were from journalists and non-Hitman content creators instead of from the community, it really irks me that IOI wants me to play these mediocre contracts made by these kinds of people/groups who barely played the trilogy before if I want to unlock items that were previously rewards for completing challenge packs.
In other words, some items have different unlock conditions that may not be better than the previous games.

I should also point out that the Master Difficulty in this game is not as hard as HITMAN 2016's Professional Difficulty, there's actually some differences that have been lost in this game.

Not every Elusive Target have return to this game either, and the new buggy Elusive Target Arcade Mode doesn't have briefing videos to go with them. By the way, this new mode is basically Elusive Targets missions but as Escalations with arbitrary Complications that limits how you play. Speaking of which....

The Absurd Focus On Escalations
The previous games had them too but for this game, it seems that the developers are more focused on making post-release content as Escalations alongside the Elusive Targets. There's no variation to the post-release content like Challenge Packs and traditional missions.

Seriously, the released DLCs so far all have Escalations, the Easter seasonal event was an Escalation, The Dartmoor Garden Show was an Escalation, and the aforementioned Elusive Target Arcade Mode is basically ETs in Escalations.
I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming roguelike Freelancer Mode plays like an Escalation with annoying complications.
The Hitman community have shown to be tired of this and I don't understand why the developers of this game thought that the HITMAN Trilogy shouldn't follow and focus on its main structure of gameplay from the story and bonus missions anymore.

The Implementation of PCVR
It's not too great unfortunately. I'm glad it's here after being exclusive to PSVR for a year but ugh, other desktop games have better implementation of VR whether it's officially done or modded. I'd say more but...

Conclusion
I have to stop here before I reach the character limit so I will end this by saying that even though HITMAN 3 is a genuinely great game, it's heavily flawed due to the poor decisions and efforts of IO Interactive and I'm very disappointed that the third game is not the definitive version of the trilogy that I hoped it would be.

Don't be a sucker like me who bought this game on Steam day one.
I only did it because I wanted to mod the game but otherwise, I would've waited for a big sale.

Even though it's not completely faithful to the original 2002 game, it's still more of a Definitive Edition than a certain trilogy recently.

Mafia III may be a repetitive mess but this game proves that Hangar 13 are competent developers capable of making a good game as the linear experience in the first Mafia game is a lot more enjoyable than taking over a map one by one.
The remake is well done, not perfect but it's definitely worth playing.

While this is suppose to be a game demo, it's also a demonstration of humans' incapability or refusal to read.

As I was playing this Connecting to the Server Simulator 2021, knowing that RE8 demo won't be playable until 1st of May 5:00PM Pacific, I was wondering something.
Why do humans deserve the gift of intelligence instead of other animals?

But seriously though and don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's some fair points regarding the necessity of preloading a demo but the fact that people don't read is hysterically stupid and are ruining the overall rating of the possibly fun demo itself.
