Read the Original Review to see things more accurate to the gameplay you'll be seeing. I had to change my review out of sheer enjoyment of gameplay. As a WH40k nerd who doesn't like playing RTS games 24/7, this game is a great L4Desque loop and cool WH40k weapons. I REALLY enjoy using the types of weapons and abilities, though like any game it is still numbered, that are in the game and how they fit in with the lore. As a fan of the title WH40k and first first shooters think this game is perfect. I hope for more content in the future but their response to people's comments make me feel, or hope, they will add more cool stuff.

--Original Review Below (Initially a Negative Review)--

GREAT GAME!? I have had an awesome time mowing through the waves of chaos, stunning graphics and grimdark Warhammer 40k feel. However; so much of the customization is locked behind paywalls that the base game is very limited. There's not enough missions and the lack of at least a 6th or 5th character option makes nearly every match feel similar because who you're playing with will never change you'll have a partner Psyker, Ogryn, Zealot, or Sharpshooter everytime, sometimes multiple of the same one; which I dont have a huge issue with other than the fact there's few clothing options it's obvious you're playing very restricted gameplay. (I should point out I never played Vermintide II or I, I'm a 40k fan, not a huge fantasty Warhammer fan so I'm not looking at it through an ex-Vermintide mindset)

To be fair, the game is very fun, chopping through hordes of chaos cultists is an enjoyable time and, if you're a Warhammer 40k nerd (like me) you'll have a good time using the guns available in the game. Again, however, this is very limiting. It would be very fun to see a possible "new" or at least varied enemies at different maps. They're all chaos cultist, now each mission has its own mix of the creatures you'll encounter but while their frequency and/or appearance may alter each mission what types of enemies you can fight will never change. (poxwalkers, chaos cultists troops, minor "monsters" and the bosses which are very cool and as a WH40k nerd I really enjoy fighting the bosses they've added, at this point. There's only 3 "bosses," Spawn of Nurgle, Plague Ogryn and Demonhost (Witch from L4D) which are all fun and completely unique from eachother and the normal enemies have good differences to clearly define them as their own entity.

In conclusion, I honestly think there needs to be a major free overhaul or a second game released and this one made as a tester, if there were more characters, ditch the prisoner idea (in my opinion the whole "you're a prisoner on a penace crusade" is a massive way of trying to make players new to WH40k understand why they'd be working for the Imperium) While many maybe clueless I think its best to cater to the fans and make enough content (ie in the arkham games when they'd explain the characters in their bio, because the developers understood most of their players would know the lore) so new people would be knowledgeable enough to play the game and might spark interest to look into the WH40k books. As mentioned before the lack of characters really hurts the game; while the characters available are, other than access to some of the same guns, very different from each other and in my opinion encourage a very different playstyle for each character (I think this is a very good part of the game), playing as each class is very fun. The problem I have is what it creates in atmosphere having a 4 player coop with only 4 available characters; in my opinion it creates an emptiness/solitude feeling that drags you down, nothing is fresh or unknown, once you get the concept for each one you'll understand most their unique tricks (which are cool) yet not fresh gameplay, worst part of this is when you get 4 pskers on a harder mission and cant really handle it, or the fact that given there's only 4, if anyone ever chooses not to be one of the four that will result with a duplicate playing 100% of the time, which means you know you'll be changing to a certain playstyle for that game, which is more unique. One time I was paired and we had 4 zealots, very fun, tons and almost exclusively melee fights.)

New characters, more missions and tons of more clothing (not behind a real money paywall) and more variations of what each unit looks like (every enemy has a "skin" and has a couple versions, a few more for specials and/or different color ways for the typical units would be cool) these changes would make me say this is one of the best games available. It just feels unfinished, like they tided up what they had and shelved the rest. I honestly hope to change this review and I will play the game and would recommend it for W40k fans for the experiece of the laser guns and bolter rifles, but get it on sale or on the g4m3 p4zz on ecks box

REVISION:
For a moment in time I changed my initial thumbs down to a thumbs up. However; with all the new content they're released it has made game breaking bugs extremely common and their promise to release only "free stuff" (things you can earn with ingame achievement/money) but yet they've already released three new gear sets for each class, removed the old ones (making them exclusive to those who had already purchased them) and barely expanded on the basic gear sets. None of these new free sets are super cool and the gear you earn is far better looking. For the gamebreaking launch bug and going back on their promise I must return my thumbs down review.

Its got its bugs. That's to be expected from an Early Access game. There's much more possibility in Bannerlord, when compared to Warband. Settlements are far more engaging and kingdoms are very indepth. I enjoy the politics and conquests in this game very much. I'd definitely recommend this to many Mount & Blade fan. If you're new to the franchise then I would recommend this over any of the older titles. The progressions in this game feel far less Dungeons & Dragons and more like modern RPG games. I enjoy this. Instead of becoming a god amongst men around level 20, now you must still use your troops in ways that you didn't have to in the previous titles. I'd say, anyone looking to pour at least 30 hours into a single campaign and have strategy aspects I would say this is a great title to give your money.

Fun, very fun making your own arcade, I wish you started with all the items without having to earn them but still very fun

PS Make sure you have a lot of Steam games, it uses your library

Early Access Review
This game for the like 10 minutes I got to play was very bad, leveling is basically pointless and there are no objectives, it's wonder until you find something good then go from there. It's MP only don't trust the "Singleplayer" tab, it is not. Servers are horrid, I crash right after joining them and after 10-20 minutes of getting my own server set up it was laggy as all get out and unenjoyable, please keep in mind that this is very early after this came out, but it still stupid that they'd release a game that isn't good (lag\fun) Maybe when this game is further I will get rid of this and change to a possitive.

When this game still wasn't public on Steam I saw it and it looked amazing well since then I'd forgotten about it. But recently I saw I could play it, I was SO happy even more happy to see it was free. I really wanted it to feel like Warcraft\Starcraft because I really love those games and I really love HL2 so if the 2 were put together I thought it'd be very fun, then I played it, it was EXTREAMLY fun, I've only been playing one days and got 8 hours of gameplay, me and my brother (we used to play Warcraft alot together) were playing constantly! If you enjoy Warcraft\Starcraft I really recommend this game, it does have the normal bugs that BETAs got but other than those this game is perfect!
Even if you're new to these kind of games this is a very fun game and I still think you'd enjoy it, btw very fun to bring friends along!

If you like sniping then you don't want this game, it is crappy, totally unrealistic, when I first saw it I thought it was actually going to be a Sniper Elite game jsut zombies instead of humans, but not quite, they have put you in so many close quarter maps that you rarely actually use your sniper, I do not recommend this game.
