Fun puzzles. Tough puzzles. Dumb ending tho. Dont expect it to make too much sense. Kinda puts a damper on the first 7/8ths of the game.

Its just a worse version of all these types of roguelikes i've seen. Severely unpolished with bs enemies towards the end

This game asks a lot of deep philosophical questions. I will have to think long and hard to understand it all

Starts off quite well but towards the end it becomes a tedium of finding the one required item or in the worst cases finding the required items in the required order even though you will need to use them together. Oh god that was annoying.
Sometimes you need like a stick or pipe but oh no none of these will do you need to go 20 paces that way and find the one metal rod to use as a lever. No you cant use a mug or the flask you have in your inventory to transport water you need a special bucket that was uninteractable till this point. And so on.

Do not play this otherwise, like me, you might get suckered in with the great puzzles of the first half of the game and then have to finish the game before moving on.

Best Yakuza story of all time. I'm fully Ichiban pilled.

My only gripe with this game would be then endless corridors of running that exist everywhere in this game. The cynic in me thinks it is so prevalent just to pad out the runtime but the game is really gorgeous so i dont really mind it too much. Also the gameplay aspect of this is lackluster. The platforming is uninspired and linear and the puzzles are practically non existent. There was only one point in the game where i had to think about how to solve it.

I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes that entire last act. I do not think i will be able to play through this game again anytime soon

TL;DR:- Buy this game on a deep sale and play through the main story

It teaches you about momentum but outside of fixed set pieces you dont use it
It gives you a double jump but you can beat the game without it
It gives you a wallriding tech but its incredibly janky

The story is incredibly bland to the point where it feels like it was tacked on after the game developed
enter island->discover history of island->uncover problem with island->save island->end?

Theres also an added combat element to this game which is so incredibly one note and boring. Just point and shoot at slight variations of the same type of enemy that all stand and shoot different coloured balls of light back at you that all do the same damage.

Pick it up in a sale or something. Decent fun for one saturday afternoon.

Good story and game

TL;DR buy this game at a deep discount if that and play through the main story because the setting and atmosphere is kinda fun

This game is hard to review because at its core its a fantastic game. The setting is incredible, the mc is compelling, the story is interesting, etc.
But its all surface level.
The combat in this game could give the simplicity of witcher 3's combat a run for its money and most likely beat it. The vampire powers get outscaled very fast in the mid game. Out of all the choices the best one becomes getting the protective shield, the highest damaging weapon and then doing the single x,x,x combo on the enemies.(the only attack in the game btw)
The story gives you choices to go deep into people's story and get hints about them but thats it, theres nothing you can do with the hints. All it does is give you a little bit of xp. For example at an early point in the game you find out that one of the nurses along with her boyfriend ambulance driver save beds in the hospital for patients who can bribe them. And theres nothing you can do with that information. Cant blackmail them to get a cut or report them to get them fired (or reprimanded) and not even something like getting a deep discount at the ambulance driver's store. At another point in the game you meet a detective who is looking for missing people and when you find them it doesnt change anything. One repeating dialogue that exclaims shock at how you were able to find them and thats it. He still patrols the same block every night, doesnt go to check in with the missing people, doesnt go back to the precinct, no reward or inquiry as to how you were able to find them. AND THERES SO MANY MORE.... EVERY SINGLE HINT LEADS TO NOTHING.
I've probably completed almost all substories in this game but again same thing. Nothing changes in the game world. Not for the characters, not for you, not for the same 15 metres of space they pace back and forth every night.
And towards the end you can see the dialogues start becoming generic because they didnt want to write separate dialogues based upon your morality or choices you made
