Surprised to admit this, but I actually like this game a lot better than most others I've played. It's pretty clever story-wise and just generally (very self-aware), even if it's not as graphically striking as lots of games these days. Characters are pretty sweet, loads of pop culture references (but not enough to annoy you or anything) and when they say "choices matter"... They really do. Playing in different ways totally alters your gameplay experience and which characters you encounter/which ones become important. Even resetting the game/replaying the game can change interactions. It's pretty good, and I'd definitely say get it. It's worth the price for sure! The soundtrack is pretty great, too.

Everything in this game is pretty awesome, to be honest - from the dialogue to the encounters/gameplay itself, as well as characters. When you find out about the funding for this game, it's pretty incredible what they managed to do with it - it's really detailed and everything has been pretty well thought out and cleverly crafted. Urge people to look past fans/hype because that has nothing to do with the actual gameplay experience, unless you choose to get involved with it.

I played it blind, didn't know what I was really getting into - I fell asleep watching a streamer play this but I assumed it was a normal RPG attempting to be a call-back to "the old days of gaming" (lmao) until I looked it up on steam (boy, was I wrong). In order to really get a feel for the game, you should get through one playthrough at least - it will surprise you and the game will mislead you into thinking ____ but actually turn out to be ____. It's really well thought out and executed. Worth the money, it has great replayability (it really is a game you can play again and have an altered experience in, should you choose to) as long as you keep interested - but I'm sure you will be by the end of it. I went in with pretty low expectations/not really knowing what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Get it whenever you have a chance! :D I'm not 100% sure it's for everyone - some people might not enjoy the type of humour in this game, or they might not feel connected to the characters, or might not enjoy bullet hell style fights. Depends on your tastes, but I personally did like the game and as you continue to play, it becomes more apparent that there's more to it than meets the eye. That might be because I went in with low expectations, but I don't know. It was surprisingly good for me, anyway.

Okay, so I have had a bit of a love-hate relationship with this game. But not because it's terrible, nor that its characters are written badly or anything like that; it's because I get so immersed in the story and the characters that I couldn't help but feel annoyed about ____ happening or freaking out when presented with a scary choice that could impact the story. I personally had no problem with the conclusion of the story, I saw it coming. It was meant to happen that way and I think the main reason some people probably don't like the ending is because it made them feel something, and that something was definitely not a happy feeling (at least for me), but it was predictable (there were a lot of hints to that being the ultimate choice).

If you like immersive, great storylines then get this game. If you've been through or witnessed any situation in this game then you will more than likely feel something or connect with the game in some way, I certainly did at numerous points.

For me, I was initially annoyed at the terrible teenage stereotypes that were prevalent throughout the story to begin with - but the thing is, the characters develop into complex people with their own issues, insecurities and problems. It depends on both your mindset that you have going into the game and the choices you make as to whether you reveal the multidimensional aspects of a character or not. I think the main reason as to why I was initially annoyed at the stereotypes was because it's a disappointing reflection of reality in some cases, so I guess connecting those situations to real situations probably was what annoyed me, and I think it was a good thing that it did annoy me - it meant I'd connected with the game on some level.

The game has both a great storyline and a sufficiently large, but not overwhelming, range of environments/minor storylines to explore and sometimes missing small details in these can affect the future, perhaps even without you realising. I know that in my first playthrough I had no idea about some choices you could make because they weren't obvious and required thorough exploration (which I didn't initially bother to do, because I was so sucked into the main storyline). I bought the complete season pass a while ago, I don't regret doing so. I will do it for season 2 (I believe there is a season 2 coming up) because LiS has definitely gotten me interested in this genre.

I will say this though. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ THOSE CHOICES GIVING ME HEART ATTACKS! I would literally sit there thinking "oh my god what do I do" and leave the choice up for a good 5 - 10 minutes before deciding to follow through with one. Prepare to have mild strokes every time you get presented with a choice.

TL;DR: Get this game. It's good fun, I couldn't stop playing it and it gave me heart problems every time I had a choice, so 10/10 for that. You always want to know what happens, there's always some twist or a situation that makes you feel something. It's quite a human game.

If you're not sure about it, then get the first episode and play it through to the end. From there you'll be able to tell if you like the style of the game. I think I bought LiS at full price and it is actually worth it. I was really surprised episode 1 was priced at £3.99. I think on a previous sale it was taken down to like £1.99 or so, so if you're into sales then definitely get it if you see it on sale. It's already cheap as it is though, for the content and replayability IMO, as well as the quality of the story and characters.

I'm probably going to replay this game as well. Technically I haven't "finished" it because I'm stuck with a terrible laptop that won't run the final scenes. But it's cool, I don't blame the game, I blame this awful laptop.

Awesome game! :D

Really enjoyed it, it's super fun and the soundtrack is brilliant. The artwork is also gorgeous and I love the turn-based RPG gameplay, as well as the fluidity of the combat system - whack some processes around, or take your time planning how you're going to do it! The voice acting is also superb, and I love how they have Red hum the background music while in Turn() mode.

GET IT!

PS: I played through with a controller, it has great controller support too - although I haven't really played THAT many steam games, it definitely is one that "fully supports controllers" for real. But a lot of people would probably prefer playing with keyboard and mouse. Just saying though. :P

Awesome game. I still have my CD, but I bought this edition too. Was definitely worth it (though I did buy it on sale), and is good fun with friends! :D Interesting to see what Thrones & Patriots added to the game (I only had the original RoN disc). Can't stop playing through the campaigns!
