Overwatch 1 players were in a drought for 4 years for content and the Overwatch 2 launch is all they had to show for it. It's basically nothing, and there are a lot of aspects worse than the original. Including a horrible monetization model.

In addition, there isn't a proper PvE either, which was a huge lie on behalf of blizzard. The whole reason for a 2. It can also be speculated that blizzard knew they were cancelling the PvE campaign and concealed announcing it to their player-base until they absolutely had to.

I don’t know why they decided to launch ow2 on steam, besides money. Which seems to be the only thing driving this cash-grab. Blizzard redefined a sequel in the worst way possible. Absolutely a downgrade.

edit 1: After reading the dev post in response to the steam reviews I felt compelled to update my review. I am NOT a review bomber. I have been playing this game since 2016 and I REALLY want it to be good. Unfortunately, it is NOT good and my review still stands for the reasons above.

IF, and this is probably the biggest IF in all of existence, Overwatch can get its stuff together and fix itself I will change my review to a positive one. Highly unlikely, but anything is possible. Goodluck.

edit 2: New Year. New review update. Tl;dr Well, it's not passing, but it's not failing either. Like, more than milk, but not quite a milk shake. Know what I mean?

The OW2 Dev Team is trending positively. Overall I still don't feel like this game has earned a positive review yet. This is good news considering that Overwatch 1 was "abandon-ware" for the last two years of it's existence. Similarly, with hindsight, it seems the "PvE focus" of Overwatch 2 was the Dev Team not completing anything of substance from 2020-2022.

HOWEVER, the Dev Team that picked up this corpse of a game, admittedly from dire circumstances, has been able to breathe new life into this game. Something that I am deeply grateful for. The new skins, characters, game modes, and basically all of the PvP aspects (besides balance sometimes but its okay bcus a lot of games struggle with balance sometimes) have been continuously updated and reiterated on since Overwatch 2's release.

It will be interesting to see where this game goes from here. And I, for one, am excited. Keep up the good work.
