Have to give credit where it's due - The game has amazing audio design, and the graphics are very good. I also think the devs nailed what they were trying to do, with showing how mental illness, specifically schizophrenia feels like. The audio did give me chills at time, which was very nice.

Unfortunately though, as a video game, I can't really recommend it. And thus my negative review, as this game is pretty much advertised as a "regular" video game, like God of War or similar titles.

The combat in the game is incredibly shallow, far in between, and overly easy, where dodge spamming makes you more or less invincible. There's a total of like 3 common enemies in the whole game, of which 2 of them are basically identical.

There's no crafting system, no character upgrades, items, equipments, or anything like that. The game is on rails, and very linear.

The game consists mainly of walking through it and doing puzzles, but these puzzles are more or less the same through the whole game, and are also very easy. It's to the point where they feel more like a chore to go through rather than rewarding to complete. On top of this, Senua's ""sprint"" speed is so slow, to the point where simply navigating the map/world also feels like a chore.

I lost interest after about 6 hours, and I'm not sure I will finish the game, because I'm pretty sure I have experienced everything the game has to offer.

If you want a story visually told through a game rather than reading a book, then this is for you. I can't take away at the very good audio design, and I do think the devs actually succeeded in what they were trying to make. But like I said, as a video gaming experience I can't really recommend it, as the game is at it's core, really is just a glorified walking simulator with good audio design.

Gameplay in open beta is more solid and bug free than most AAA titles at full launch... ggwp
