After finally finishing the campaign, which took me 119h, I've decided to write this review.

This game easily goes in my top games I've ever played in my life, up there with the likes of Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2. For the amount of content you get, and the replayability, 60€ is even cheap. From the turn-based combat system that is popular in jrpgs, it also fits here, as there is almost infinite possible combinations of moves and actions to do in fights, and they only come through if you can carefully plan them. Graphic wise and presentation, it's easily among the best in the recent past years, no other crpg comes close to it. The sheer amount of dialogue, which is ALL VOICED is actually insane. Every single npc you interact with, they have a voiced line, where usually in jrpgs it's just text or in other games, you can't even interact with all of the npcs. Music is beautiful, the best one for me was the one that plays in your hideout while you're in the city of Baldur's Gate, as by that point it feels impactful. Story is also very good, bunch of good written characters, with their backstories fleshed out, makes you really care for them.

Now, I've talked about graphics, gameplay, combat, music and story. Unfortunately, I only give the game a 9/10, and I'm gonna explain it now, as there are some issues I find with it. Beware of spoilers.

Unfortunately as it's 2023, the SJW propaganda has been going on for literally a decade now, where it started to creep in from the year of 2013 (Mass Effect 3 for example). What do I mean by that? A lot of the characters are brown, black, women are in positions of power. A lot of the charactes are bisexual, homosexual. I think even all of your companions are bisexual, which is just weird honestly, even for a fantasy game (looking at Mass Effect Andromeda who started with this). Wyll, one of your recruitable companions, is the only black character in your party, and he was perfectly fine in early access. He was just some random guy, that sucked as an adventurer, so he decided to go into a pact with a devil and get his powers as a warlock. Perfectly fine. NOPE. The masses decided that the black character can't be this bland, isn't likeable, so they had to rewrite him into a literal Mary Sue. Now out of nowhere, the reason why and how he got his powers, is he sacrificed his soul to get the power to kill cultists of Tiamat to save Baldur's Gate. Unsung hero. His father is Duke Ravengard, one of the major political figures of the city. There was no mention of that in early access, and I seriously doubt it was planned like that anyway too. At the end of his companion story, if you saved his father, he's given a choice to succeed him as a duke. He declined it (at least in my playthrough), and decided to become the Blade of Avernus, punisher of all evil, and vanquisher of demons and devils alike. Basically, it screams Mary Sue.

I should also mention that a tiny percentage (like in real life, where they don't care about that specific topic, but they get the most media attention) wasn't satisfied that the default option for your character is a male human that has white skin. Now if you choose humans, it's a brown woman. Also they added a third gender option, and penis and vagina options (why though, this ain't Cyberpunk?!). BIG SPOILERS INCOMING; your guardian who keeps talking to you through your campaign, is actually a mindflayer who named himself The Emperor. I was kind of expecting that. What I wasn't expecting is that actually he is the founder of the city itself, Baldur. Guess what skin colour they made him? It's brown. Why would you retcon something that has been established for more than 20 years now, as I damn guarantee his skin colour wasn't like that back then.

The ending wasn't the best either, could have been done better with a more fleshed out cutscenes with certain companions, city itself, etc.

All in all, it's an amazing game, 9/10. The only reason why it's not perfect is that the sjw propaganda is quite heavy here, as the developers seems to have been forced by someone else to make changes, as it clearly wasn't the original plan of theirs when early access was released.

I played this game way back when this was actually much better compared to it's competition (World of Tanks) back in 2013, it was one of the best games out there. Game was fun, easy to play, easy to progress, no p2w at that time, once you reach a certain rank, all planes researched automatically.

It started going downwards when they implemented tanks and scaled the ranks down from 20 to 5 (WoT has 10 ranks). Because of that, the matchmaking suffered, they changed the progression system, now the planes don't automatically get researched, you have to research for upgrades, etc. With each patch, they made the game more and more grindy, and more and more p2w with premium planes and tanks. I quit back in 2015, and now after 8 years I'm writing a review.

In those 8 years, they started adding even more post-ww2 stuff (totally unnecessary), and now apparently the game has aimbot missiles and drones. IN A GAME THAT STARTED AS WW1/WW2 FLIGHT ARCADE SIMULATOR!!! Recently they revamped the reward system from matches, making it even more grindier. They didn't realize that this might be the final nail in the coffin, so they quickly made a f***ing anime advert. AN ANIME ADVERT. Weebs will pour in a bit of saving money into the game, and most likely it won't die. To the greedy Gaijin developers that continuously make the game more and more harder for players, you can, sincerely, go f*** yourselves.

Modern developers, this is how you make a game. No SJW propaganda, just Rock and Stone!
