As I do not want my date leaked by Sony (again) I'm not going to be playing this until Sony gets their hands outta this pie. It was tasty while it lasted.
(Leaving this as a reminder.)

To my surprise, and my joy we have managed to get Sony to back off. Yall should pat yourselves on the back, and also give a thanks to the Helldivers 2 team for negotiating with Sony. But for real though, good on us all for hitting Sony where it hurt. Their wallets, and PR department.

As for the game? I quite like it. It's incredibly fun, and has to be one of the best ways to screw around with friends in awhile. I'd recommend it, and would recommend putting as much support towards Arrowhead as possible.

I got this game on sale, and it most certainly is a game. Is it a fun game? Yes. It is not a Battlefield game however, which is what I, as well as so many people came for. So if you're looking for a game that is fun, grab this when the price is low. If you're looking for a Battlefield game, don't buy this because that's not what you're getting.

As an addition, they could literally just turn the "Operators" into skins and allow people to swap abilities between them, and the "bot" playermodels and you'd have "Classes" again. But they won't, because EA and DICE aren't that smart. I don't think they'll learn from this, and instead I think this will be the final nail in the coffin. It was fun while it lasted at least.

The first real PC game I played. My first real favorite, and forever one of my most beloved games.

I love this game so much but I hate it.
Let me explain.
First of all, I suck at this game. I suck so gosh darn much but its so good I keep coming back even when i'm frustrated.
Its that damn good.
I HIGHLY suggest you buy this game, and if you're lucky and find out bullet hell's are your calling via this game then hell yeah!
If you're already good at bullet hell's... I hate you but respect your skill.
Anyways, great game, great puns, creative and fun weapons, fantastic bosses and addictive and fun gameplay. (or should I say gunplay?)
Ten out of freaking ten.
Buy this game, right freakin now.

Edit for 5/23/2023: Avoid this game like the plague. It is a shadow of its former self. Go play ARMA 3, GHPC, hell, even WoT. Anything is better than this game and how the dev's will treat you. Disregard any positives mentioned because this company will not change, and will not make this game better. All hope is lost, and I cannot gain the thousands of hours I've put into this garbage fire.

Edit for 6/1/2022: The higher up's at Gaijin are squeezing this game and its community for all their moneys worth. Don't get into this game cause its screwed. Just wait for something else, its HONESTLY better then to play it.

I've got way too many hours to count on this game and I must say, im very much addicted which means this might be a bit biased... not unlike the dev's for their Russian tech tree.
But besides that, I do thoroughly enjoy this game. I spend a lot of time (and money) into it because it's fun.
Now i'm going to get this out of the way early, yes it's easier if you buy premium but you can fairly easily make it through normally. They are currently working on and doing a great job I might add of making the game much less grindy and such.

Now, onto the actual review. Warthunder is a game that aims to create fluid and fun combat across Land, Air, and Sea sometimes with them overlapping. Now does it do a good job...? Eh, sort of. The balancing is always changing and at the moment at top tier its a bit screwy so to speak and needs some work. Earlier tier's and BR's are much more balanced and enjoyable.

As for gameplay, its different from WoT in that there is no health bar and instead its focused on components. You have to hit the "squishy bits" so to speak, IE: Ammo, Crew, Gun, Tracks. Now you shoot Ammo And Crew to knock the tank out, Gun parts, Engine and Tracks are just to disable and buy you more time to either "rack" their ammo or kill enough crew.
This does also mean that you need to learn enemy vehicles weak spots and where the components are and it does help that you can view and even simulate shots in the garage on different vehicles. That's really all ive got here, higher calibre means more damage (most of the time) until you reach higher tiers where its all just loopy.

For gamemodes there are three different types: Simulator, Realistic, and Arcade. Arcade is the closest you're going to get to WoT's and I suggest it as your starting point, just know that it doesn't pay off as handsomely as the others. Your tank is faster, physics are nonexistent and you get an indicator that shows you if you will pen or not and where your round will land. You also seem to have a minor stabilizer on your tank despite what era it is and cannot team kill or damage plus the addition of enemy name tags and markers.. Not to mention you have a third person camera but can switch between the close commander view and the hovering third person one. In the air your plane can defy gravity and has training wheels to keep you from damaging it unintentionally. It's literally a point and click adventure but with a little more effort.

Realistic is a step up, no indicator to show if you will pen or not or where the round will land, realistic vehicle speeds and they act like their real world counterparts, same with planes and ships. You aren't going to be drifting around Girls Und Panzer style here unless you're in a light tank. You're magical stabilizer that exists on every tank is gone, stopping and starting makes the gun bob and you will have to compensate. Planes can rip their wings if you exceed the forces the airframe can take, not to mention you won't be making hairpin turns anymore... unless you're in a Zero or a Spitfire because they can actually do that. No team damage and enemy indicators are off, you fly via mouse controls.

Now sim is the hardest one to play, and as close as you can to being "real", team damage is on, enemy and friendly indicators are off and you're stuck into the commanders view. (you can use binoculars still or switch to different tank views though IE: Drivers view which must be custom bound to a key.) Due to this you must watch your fire and know your friendly, and enemy tanks as team killing makes you pay for their tank repairs. With planes its the same thing except even more precarious now. They have some sort of mouse controls to replicate a joystick, it's all wonky and honestly I suggest getting a joystick for it though I use mouse because I'm an idiot and it works for me. Before in realistic it would give you warnings if you were overloading your airframe or about to break something and you would have a few seconds to slow down or stop stressing the aircraft to prevent damage from occurring. In sim you get no warning and become damaged immediately from the stress. It is no hand holding at all. Along with that you are restricted to the pilot and occasionally gunners view for the duration of the match.

That mostly covers it, there's more smaller details but you'll have to find them out on your own.
I do highly recommend Warthunder though as it's honestly one of the better vehicle sims out there and would love to play it even more if any of my friends still played it.
