I'm not even going to review this as a game, because it is not a game. It is educational software, demonstrating what a waste of time looks like. Please do not buy this. Linux is free.

This game surpassed my expectations for how incredibly bland and boring an accessible roguelike could be. It has many of the ingredients you might expect to find in a decent roguelike; Challenging, fast paced action with a twist, and tediously worked out mechanical interactions. Sadly, the only word I can use to describe this that comes out the other side is tedious. The 1-dimensional level design and repetitive, uninspired powerups, characters, and scenery bury any spark this game could have to offer in a boring sandwich. Do not buy, unless you hate yourself, in which case you might actually like this. 2/10

Portal's exhilarating funness and entrancing aestheticity are unmatched by any other interactive audiovisual experience I've interactively experienced the audio and visuals of to date. I wish I had a computer like the ones in the game.

An overall positive, and inspiring experience. One held back by some really rough edges, which I recommend bracing yourself to get snagged on along the way, but a lot of love and work went into this project, and it shows. Give it a shot, just be wary and try not to tear your head off.

I feel like this is sort of a game that's meant to be modified, and also serves as a branching off point, for introducing players new to the genre, but it can be a very fun game none the less. My main gripe would be the room pool could be bigger; the formula gets sort of repetitive after a while. Also, the constant exposure to various types of cheese-based consumables gives me weird cheese cravings every time I play this without fail. Though, as I said, this is a game better tinkered with than played vanilla.

This is a good game, sort of a cross between maniac mansion and classic nes adventure rpgs, with a theme that seems heavily castlevania inspired. If you can get past the interface that seems to be somewhat riddled with strange, mostly visual oddities and glitches, and the slightly wonky u/d/l/r controls, which are sort of an optional extra to automatic mouse movement anyways, the game play is excellent for the money, and I would highly recommend it.

Early Access Review
I prefer the old html5 alpha version to be honest. The beta has been just, too clunky, and too hard to get used to. The content has been so packed and complicated, and the direction things have gone, the game is just too hardcore and complicated for me compared to the alpha. It's probably just me, in that I prefer to almost play wayward as sort of a 2d minecraft, and it's gone in a much more rouge-likey direction than suits my personal playstyle, idk. I kind of wish we could have sort of classic version that's more like the alpha but with some bugfixes, and more conservative balancing changes to cater to me as a filthy casual, so I can just make a farm and a base and have fun advancing and exploring, without too many hardcore/roguelike elements or overcomplicated/nuanced mechanics getting in my way.
But while this all may sound negative if you're like me, I feel like the greater part of the community is interested in a more hardcore, rougelike game, and that's the way things seem to be headed here, so if you like a real challenge and just want to beat the game, this might be more your thing. So I'd give it a try, I guess your enjoyment of the beta sort of depends a lot on what kind of player you are.
