Absolute banger of a game. Great gameplay, great writing, great music, pretty much all about it is great. One of the few games that makes failing as rewarding as winning.

Shame the base game has some bugs regarding gunpowder infantry and infantry with 2-handed weapons. Otherwise this game would be a solid 9.0 instead of a 8.5

Don't mind what people say about this being an RNG-fest. Okay, it kind of is at times, but if your strategies or plans mostly rely on one or more dicerolls they were bound to fail anyway. If you don't have contingency plans for when things go south, it's kind of your own fault if you have your party wiped out.
Just think ahead. Think of the possibilities. Think about action and consequence. What is safer? Having your healer heal one of your heroes before that last enemy can kill them off, or trying to let your healer kill said enemy before it can get another hit in? Would potential stress be worth the potential HP healing if you let one weak enemy alive at the end of a battle? What are the chances of an enemy getting blighted vs an enemy getting stunned?

Pick your expedition carefully, and your parties even more so. Failure will be inevitable, but luckily you'll always get more chances. Still, don't be afraid to cut your losses and run if necessary. Like the narrator says: "The sin is not in being outmatched, but in failing to recognize it."

It's a hard game, but also very rewarding. Pounding hearts as you try to kill a boss with your last standing hero, realizing and learning from mistakes and triumphing over enemies that once kicked your ass are all parts of the game. Victory is worth it.

Absolutely Classic. The feel and gameplay of this game is great. But it's not without its flaws. For example, it can't really support the biggest battles without some (minimal) sacrifices in either framerate and/or graphics, though that may just be my computer.
