A love letter. Not only to the Runner games, but to the entire bit.trip series. This game is nothing but good times. No matter how many times we fall (or bonk) we can always get up, try again, and eventually succeed. :)

Okay, so I need it to be clear that this review is not ironic, as the game may give that impression.

This game rocks.

Outside of the game's fun comedy and writing, I have adored exploring the world so much. One moment I'm in a relaxing market selling water, and an hour later I'm completing a resident evil styled dungeon with puzzles and satisfying progression. For the price asked, this is one of the best purchases on Steam.

I've been streaming the game to some friends while I play and they seem to agree: This game is fantastic, and if the appearance of it puts you off, ignore that for a bit and have some fun. I don't think you'll regret it.

This game is everything I wanted and more! It has the usual highs and lows of a modern FromSoft game: I think the combat, bosses, and world design are masterclass, but PvP still holds little interest for me. Dueling is very fun, but invasions feel less like a tough enemy and more like a roadblock, due to players finding many unfair advantages. I usually play offline so this doesn't affect me much, but it's worth noting, and may not bother everyone. Back to positives; I found myself gasping and in awe of many moments, both in story and exploration. There are many times you'll be stunned by what you find.

For what's new, the open world is excellent! With plenty to explore and delve, you'll often find new things every few minutes of roaming. I've beaten the game twice and have been doing a third run, and even now I'm still finding some new catacombs to deal with! It's wild. I say this as someone who isn't a fan of large, open worlds.

Once you find a big dungeon, the layout will feel a lot more like what you're used to with Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Those genius Sonic The Hedgehog-style layouts; shortcuts and secrets all over that help you find new stuff to help you, or maybe get you through faster, which are VERY satisfying to use in repeat playthroughs.

Some may not find the game as replayable as other FromSoft games, but I think with knowledge from previous playthroughs, you can still quickly accomplish stuff that used to take a while. Not to mention how many weapons and ways to fight there are; you will likely not see everything the game has to offer on a first playthrough, and I think it's better that way. More to find later! Personally I recommend your first playthrough be blind with looking little up, but I don't judge those who wish to find everything the first time around.

Last point is on difficulty. There has been discussion whether these games need easy mode or not. I'm in the middle on this. I think the game would not be ruined with the prospect, but I also think the game has enough mechanics to not need it. With summons, ranged combat, and some skills that evade better than the standard roll, most can overcome the challenges the game offers after some rough bumps! And the game is quite forgiving with your time usually. There are much more checkpoints than previous FromSoft games, and quests are generally easier to follow and harder to fail.

I recommend this big time!!

One of the most creative battle royales out there, and I highly recommend it! My only complaint is a few of the rounds feel too luck-based, such as Tip Toe and Lost Temple. These rounds shouldn't be removed, but rather need heavy adjustments.

What I wanted from the sequel and more. The platformer is snappy, combat is heavily improved, the writing is even funnier and wittier, and I felt just as invested in the story as I was in the original when I played it years ago as a kid. It even has a nice recap of the first two games which lets you jump right into this one if you don't feel like playing the original! Knowledge of the first two helps, though.

My only complaint is a lack of the Double Fine adventure game charm. The original feels like a hybrid of an adventure game with items to collect and talking to be had about said items, while the sequel is a platformer, front and center. This doesn't detract from how good the game is, but I do feel it's a charm the original holds above it.

Still, even with that gripe, this game is incredible and is worth the full price! Please play it if you get the chance. Hell, if you already did, buy it for a friend! These kind of sequel miracles rarely happen, so let's make sure we're heard that we want more!! :)

The music and gameplay has something that brings me back, but the game lacks polish and content. It's not worth the current price, but once more is added, I think I may change my mind. Overall, keep an eye on this game is what I'd say.

This is my favorite traditional fighter. The movement feels just right and there's a sense of freedom with combo options, which I can't say the same for all the fighters I've played.

Presentation here is top-notch. By this I mean music, art, and characters. The roster covers any character type you may want to play, and they each have plenty of personality and detail in their frames. My favorites to play are Beowulf and Valentine, but I think each one is awesome and worth trying out!

The complaints I have are minimal. The online lobby system seems to have a mind of its own and is hard to control if somebody wants to sit out, or making sure it properly eliminates. It's not awful, and the connections are perfect, but the lobby itself is a bit confusing.

This next issue might be simply because I'm not playing professionally, but Eliza seems a tad strong. I definitely feel like I need to put less effort into setting up combos with her, and her damage is very intimidating. Again, this could be a non-issue due to some kind of counter I'm unaware of, but if others agree, a small nerf might alleviate this. Otherwise leave it be. I wouldn't want to ruin the meta I'm not fully aware of!

Overall, a fantastic experience! I love everything about this game! While it's not my favorite fighter of all time, I think it's up there with the greats; easily top 5. Give it a shot!

This game takes everything I love about Soul Calibur and takes it up a notch! I'm a fan of 2 and an advocate for the somewhat unpopular 5, and I'd say this game has something for any SC fan. The fights and controls work perfectly, the balance feels right (which was an issue for me with 4 and 5) and the character selection is lovely. The story modes work for what they are, and are an improvement from 4 and 5.

I have a couple complaints but they aren't big. The biggest one is the lack of some very iconic characters. I could name a bunch, but I'll simply say Aeon and move on from there. The second is little to no outfit options from 5. I understand the overall opinion of 5, and that this game is somewhat of a reboot, but 5 gave us some of the best outfits for our returning cast. Most notably, my main Raphael who sported the vampire garb. A DLC that brought many veteran outfits back would be amazing, but I believe this game has completed its DLC path.

Overall, I think this game has much to offer, even if you're not a huge fighting game fan. I am, but even when I was a kid with no interest I still enjoyed 2 very much, and I think my young self would feel the same towards 6. It'd make me so happy to see more people try it and potentially fall in love with the series, so definitely check it out! :)

This game is wonderful, and shows what makes Sonic great: beautiful and exciting stages, iconic music, and an endearing version of the hedgehog. This is my favorite Sonic game by a landslide.

I would have liked for the game to be a bit longer, or have possibly gotten more DLC levels outside of the Casino Night minigame, but the length is still acceptable and has a good amount of content if you intend to complete everything.

My only large complaint is about the PC version specifically, in that controllers seem to stop working after a certain amount of play in one session. Consistently, after finishing a couple levels, I'd get a very brief frame loss, followed by my controller not working, and the only solution being to force quit the game. I did some research and many people had this issue. This can be frustrating if you're finishing a level only for the game to force you to redo.

There are mods that can remedy this, but that shouldn't be necessary for basic control. I played this originally on 360 around launch, and never had any issue like this. I don't see this being patched out considering the age of the game, so it's something to note.

All in all, this game is an immediate recommendation if you have any interest in the blue blur's good side. The gameplay is satisfying, and it's fun to see levels and bosses re-imagined, especially ones that may have been janky or flat out bad in their original title.
