Euro Truck Simulator 2 is by far the most solid of Simulator games I have played to date and Simulation is my go-to category when it comes to gaming.

This game can be enjoyed thorough Keyboard and Mouse, Steering Wheel and more recently for myself, VR. Scan through the settings carefully when you get into game because there are more options than you may think to make this game just that little more immersive, different types of automatic gearing, realism settings, even down to putting your window up and down.

First of all, the community for this game is something you want to get involved in, World of Trucks is a fantastic way to show off your delivery skills to your friends and the community, with the ability to link your ETS2 and ATS profiles, you can create a virtual driver profile for your own personal tracking or bragging rights! Do this before entering into the game, trust me, its worth it.

After creating your World of Trucks profile, heading into the game, you can create a driver, a company and choose a starting location anywhere in the game. Once you're in, Europe is your oyster, starting off, your go to mode and/or selection will be 'Quick Job', here you can test all different trucks and drive to loads of different locations, this is how I choose to start, build up enough money to either buy a truck out right or take a bank loan for the rest, once you've done that, you can then unlock 'Freight Market' and 'External Contracts'. 'External Contracts' are deliveries created by World of Trucks and count onto your statistics on your online profile page, events take place every now and then on World of Trucks so it is important to keep up to date with this as you can win DLC.

Progression in the game is never ending, from the get go, you will start off with no skills, everytime you level up you will be granted 1 Skill Point. It is a good idea to start off by leveling up your distance skill as this is where the big bucks are at, then move onto Fragile freight and Valuable freight. Around Europe you will find recruitment agencies, this is where you can hire drivers for your garage, give them a truck and manage them through the UI as the truck drivers you recruit follow the same skill program like your own character, only you have control of it. After filling up one garage with truckers, you can move onto another city and keep expanding your virtual trucking company, this also includes buying trailers.
In addition to the gameplay/progression of this game, as a purchaser of map expansion DLC, I highly recommend you do this if you feel the map is too small, this opened up so many more different routes and cool places to visit which keeps me drawn into the game everytime I play.

I'm going to move away from gameplay now and talk about Modifications to the game and Steam Workshop content. The modding community for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is HUGE. Biggest modification of the game so far is Truckers MP, this is a multiplayer mod for ETS2 and has a massive following, here you can use your normal day to day singleplayer profile to play online with other like-minded truckers, this adds a huge sense of realism to the game and a hefty bit of fun, be careful though as it can get busy and a bit glitchy. Truckers MP does not support VR gameplay, just a heads up. Moving onto other modifications, browsing through the Steam Workshop you will find endless content, Tandem trailers, Graphics mods, Rain mods, Wheel mods, Decoration mods... I could go on and on, check it out, you won't be disappointed.

I'm going to conclude my review up here, feel free to contact me if you have any questions. The game itself is the absolute pinnacle of what a Simulator should be, SCS Software have hit the nail on the head with this game and they know it, constant updates from the get go have propelled this game into becoming one of the greatest of its kind, recognised within the real trucking world, its a game that everyone should be on board with.

I also would like to personally thank SCS Software as this game drove me to get a better understanding for Trucking and take it up as a profession in real life and I love it, its scary how well this game mimics real life trucking, if you're thinking about buying it, do it.

Happy Trucking!
