I'm most likely in the minority: I play older CoD's like Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, and Modern Warfare (Original Trilogy) out of curiosity about their campaigns.

Before I give my peace on that, I'll say this: for the PC/Steam edition, performance hits the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard. This can be fixed per session (not really) by two methods. Exiting to the main menu and restarting from last checkpoint works usually. If it doesn't, just restart the client. But do expect to restart the client after another 20-30 minutes of playing when the game starts chugging and >60 fps drops to 10 fps or the client outright crashes to desktop.

Adjusting graphics settings has not changed how frequent this issue occurs.

It would appear the client suffers from some sort of memory leak, as the performance drops usually start between loading the next mission or the next major part of a level. More specifically, it occurs less in-between levels and more in the middle of levels at sections where one would expect a lot of loading and unloading of assets. Sections involving opening doors or "on the rails" where controls are restricted are the usual culprits.

If you closed the previous session the "safe way", a la quitting by the main menu, the game client will report that as a crash. You will be prompted with the option to start in safe mode at the next startup even if it did not crash. The client also will not shut down in the background if closed via the menu. It will keep running for a period or indefinitely, and you'll have to forcibly kill the program via Steam or Task Manager/Process Viewer in order to close the client.

Campaign in this game was alright. It provided the experience that one would go to a CoD campaign for. Blockbuster thrills, a story that is somewhat enjoyable for a CoD/Hollywood narrative (don't think too much about the details or anything that might be considered problematic/unsafe in a AAA/Mainstream entertainment writers' room), and gameplay that is fine (not great but adequate) for a CoD campaign.

That being said, I am now confused as to what the hell I was thinking when I purchased the Gold Edition. It's too late now to refund it too, so I'm ♥♥♥♥ out of luck with buyer's remorse. When I purchased it whenever how long ago it was, I was probably either sleep-deprived or was thinking "Oooo! Sale, grab the best version, a real bang for the buck!" I doubt I'll make use of the Gold Edition beyond the campaign, and even if I was interested in multiplayer, the client does not run well enough on my machine.

Nah, not good.

-No bots to assist as comrades (if you don't have 3 other friends to play/have only 1, it will be nothing but a final stand.) Though I've been told that you get more buds in the campaign. Dunno. Starting as solo cosplayer in space hulk =/= fun. I had more "fun" in co-op. Though for the reasons stated here, that fun is as questionable as GW's choice to make Sigmar Marines. #truestory
-Tutorial fools you into thinking your formidable. No. You won't plow through crowds of Xenos. You will be terminated by them. Actually, yes. Do try to run at crowds. Make your misery short and sweet. You aren't a tank.
-Classes heavily nerfed (useless, most of them. Medics feel meh at first lvl. Weapons feel lackluster. No difference in battle in effectiveness, only in asthetics. What damage you think you and your weapon are doing =/= actual effectiveness of weapon.)
-Long loading times.

You may think that how slow you are relates to how tough you are. You are sorely mistaken. You are not the Emperor's might. You are his reject. You are the pawn that is to die for the more important terminators. You are slow, clunky, and weak. Death respawn timer is 20 seconds. Good luck having a teammate (if you have a friend who owns this game, if not you're on your own) hold out against a horde of Xenos as you attempt to hack into the turret above before it kills you. Spoiler: He won't hold out, and every stray shot that pings off your "Terminator armor" will rattle your rocks and rip you from your map screen in a swift stroke of death.

In truth, as of writing this, this is how combat feels. You have the stats of a gene-stealer, the Xenos have the stats of terminators (as a horde). They keep coming, they keep spawning. You can't keep coming, and you take a while to spawn, run, and do anything to negate the low health/tank-iness you have been bestowed with against your expectations. There is no progression so you will always be a soft, squishy, plushy in the form of a Terminator, not an actual Terminator. The melee weapons have an effective range shorter than the models and the badass weapons of the Imperium do not feel badass.

Before you purchase this game, keep this thought with you.

You are not a Terminator.

THERE IS NO MARIACHI MUSIC.

You are a cosplayer (with friends, hopefully) who, in his foam armor, nerf guns, and flashlights, has been mistaken to be the Emperor's finest and must now fight Xenos for real.

Now go forth and suffer for the Emperor!

The game has plenty of fun gameplay, contrary to what many may think.

The game is about killing.

The game focuses on killing.

And it does a great job at killing.

Do you want to just kill hordes? Do you like butchering annoying people with guns? Do you want something simple and satisfying with some challenge?

The only downside is how it runs. It's not well optimized, but its playable.

Even still, once the bullet leaves the gun it becomes a glorious genocide crusade.

As for control schemes, the aim could be improved. I for one enjoy the use of WASD, but others prefer mouse control. I look forward to future updates that fix performance and let a player choose how to control the character.

On a scale of 0-10, I give it a 8.5 currently, 9.9 if they fix the problems.
