Not out of hate, but of love...

I adore this game and have been playing it honestly as long as I can remember. So many countless hours spent fighting, trading, idling, and just generally having a good time with other people. These days, I wonder where all the people have gone, because I sure as hell don't see them anymore.

These days, all I see are bots, bots, bots. I have COMPLETELY given up on ever queuing for Official Valve servers now because there is a genuine IMPOSSIBILITY of getting into a server where there aren't bots aggressively ruining the game, spamming on mics, flooding the chats, and just overall wreaking havoc. And that's not even mentioning the things these malicious actors have done outside the game.

If you're a botter and you're reading this, you're scum. Stop what you're doing. You aren't leaving any impact or memory of yourself. All you're doing is souring the memory of this phenomenal game. Nobody knows who you are and nobody cares. Even if they did know and care, all they would have for you is vitriol.

And if someone at Valve is reading this, please, for the love of all that is good, do something about this. I know the game is 16+ years old, but I also know this game still makes Valve money, a lot of money. It doesn't have to be kernel level anti-cheat, I agree that's too far, but please, do SOMETHING more for this cherished and beloved game. To let it rot away like this is a huge disservice, not only to the fans who continually pay you via this game's market and economy, but it is also a huge disservice to the legacy of this game that quite literally defined the FPS genre and the medium of gaming as a whole.

One of my top 10 games of all time. Yes, really.

It's a lot of things.

It has elements that are reminiscent of MGSV, and it has elements that are nothing like anything seen before. Its got satisfying inventory and weight managment. Its got a haunting soundtrack. Its got absolutely gorgeous environments to go though and get lost in. Its got a touching and heartfelt story about mankind and society, as well as individual relations like father to child (and in more ways than just the obvious one). Its got a fun cast. It's got stealth. It's got buildings and vehicles and devices and weapons and tools to play with in interesting ways. Overall its an experience I don't find often in games. Its a journey through and through. The additions to DX are also fun and worth the effort to experience. Be warned though, the entire thing is a pretty slow burn, *especially* towards the start, but stick with it, put in just a little extra effort, and you'll be rewarded, trust me.

Very unfortunate that the game got overlooked or panned by so many, and that even at first I hated the game until I came back to it about half a year after it's original release on PS4, and totally fell in love with it. Its a game absolutely worth your time and attention.

It's relaxing at times, stressful at times, rewarding at times, and infuriating every so often when you bite off more than you can chew. And the story, world, and lore bring it all together in a wholly worthwhile package in my eyes, and a deeply satisfying journey to boot.

Early Access Review
Had to turn into a serial killer and hide a sign from my friends so I could kill all 3 of them to meet quota (I still did not meet quota)

An incredible love-letter to JSR, JSRF, THPS, and other extreme sports games like those 3. It seems kinda basic and disconnected at first but everything you can do can stitch together nicely with everything else and it lends itself into having what I think is just enough depth to stay interesting for the entire runtime of the game. I found myself spending quite a bit of time just learning where I could go and how high of a score I could get, or how many Story missions I could do, all without dropping a combo. It's loads of fun and hearkens back to a simpler, more fun time for games, and I'm all for it.

It's aight. If you're expecting Overwatch with Mobile Suits, and egregious pricing in the storefront, this is it. Balance is fine and its a decently fun game if you have moderate expectations. Bandai should not charge that much in their store though and honestly I'd say don't buy a single thing from that damn store.

Best Horror game since Silent Hill 2 all the way back in 2001, like actually. And as much as I adore SH2, I fully admit to loving this game even more than I do that, it really is that special. Absolutely phenomenal game and easily within my personal top 10. Cannot recommend it enough, and can't seem to get enough of it. I find myself returning to it every few months ever since release, and every single time is an absolute treat. If you are on the fence about this game, take the plunge, and go as deep as you dare, I promise you won't regret it!

A little early to tell, but this might be my GOTY 2022, even in spite of the few issues this port has (still better than most PC ports though, if we're being real).

This game is a fantastic starting point for newcomers, in terms of gameplay. I've been into GG for about 6 months now and I feel confident in my experience with the franchise that this is the best starting point. There is so much to learn and experience here, and this franchise has honestly saved my love for fighting games as an entire genre, and Strive has made that love grow. Nearly everything about this game is so well done and polished, its fantastic, I cannot recommend it enough. (and for the lore nerds, the story is great too, but gets a little schlock-y at points, but isn't that just GG anyway?)

Fantastic PS2 JRPG! If you haven't played this yet, seriously consider it! It's awesome to see Atlus finally branch out to PC as a platform to release games on, I was already a fan of Nocturne so this was an obvious buy. As I've been finding with lots of ports lately, they're usually a little underwhelming with the amount of effort, but no where near bad enough to justify the outrage I see online. The game is great, the port is serviceable but a little lazy, take that for what you will.
