Originally gave a bad review. Devs took the time to correct said issues. Good job guys.

If you liked DK way back when, you should definitely get this game.

Hi Trenchfoot,

Thanks for your review, and I'm terribly sorry to hear how disappointed you are in the game.

As you may know we've recently released Patch 1.1 which is our single largest patch since launch with over 10 pages worth of release notes! It includes new features as well as plenty of fixes and other improvements.

I'll do my best to relate it as closely as I can to the points in your review.

  • Minions ignoring commands - This was caused by a couple of specific edge cases where units wouldn't respond to rally flags, these should all be fixed now
  • Minions getting stuck - I've not seen any reports of this recently but we'd love to hear if there are places in particular where they are getting stuck if at all in this new patch
  • Sounds come and go - We've made some improvements to our audio controller and we've added in additional combat sfx. We'd love to know if this has reoslved your issue
  • Walls are meaningless - We've made a wave of balance changes for walls and in Multiplayer tests I can confirm that having a dungeon without walls leaves you at a significant defensive disadvantage, we'll be continuing to listen to feedback based on these new values
  • Spells are missing and broken - I can't say exactly which ones these might be for you but all of the spells in the game have been thoroughly tested and all are known to be working
  • Bugs stelaing precious time from achievements - We've squashed a huge number of bugs in 1.1.
  • Minion AI - We've made a number of improvements to minion AI and pathing, please let us know what you think
  • Performance Issues - We've made significant improvements on performance and have had good reports from our public test branch players!
  • Objectives - We're closely listening to feedback on the campaign and plan to take the lessons learned into future content!

If you're interested in finding out more about 1.1 you can read our update[wftogame.com] regarding it.

You can also click here to read the full patch notes.[wftogame.com]

We hope to hear from you in the future and we'd love to hear your feedback on the latest patch!

Cheers,

Lee

Revisited this recently. Most if not all of the problems in my OP have been resolved as far as I can tell. Changed to recommended. It's worth the purchase now imo. The map editing tools are a nice bonus.

Oh and in response to your original review, I'd like to add that in patch 1.2 we added efficiency boosts to rooms for reinforced walls.

I will give this another go and possibly change my review when I have time to play. I do appreciate how attentive the devs are, and that gives me hope.

DK was one of my all time favorite games, so of course I would love to see this game flourish. I wouldn't have taken the time to write a review if it were just some other crappy game that didn't live up to expectation.

I KNOW this can be an incredible game ALREADY. So does everyone else out there that loved DK. But frankly, what I was sold at the time of the review was sentiment without substance.

On the bright side, you're all correct. This game defnitely deserves a 2nd chance, and a third and fourth and fifth imo, because as you can see by my playtime, I really really loved and missed DK. Which is why I will probably never stop giving this game second chances.

However, the fact remains. If devs don't like these kinds of reviews, they should stop selling games that are not finished. Esspecially games that I long to adore.

The review is odd.. Every bullet point is negative and not a single nice word to say.. but nearly 90 hours played?

The proactive attitude & politeness of Lee in comments he's posted makes me want to pay money just to keep this guy making games & interacting with the community in order to make it a better place.

@trenchfoot: I keep seeing people changing their previous negative reviews after the huge 1.1 patch. Not saying he should automatically swap over to thumbs up, but the guy DID have 90 hours in the game when he wrote this review. That's a lot of game time.

I honestly want to know what this player thinks now that so many things have been fixed. I'm sure the Devs want to know as well. Would be nice to see his perspective post-patch.

Meanwhile, the game just popped up on the Summer sale, which is why I am here reading reviews to decide if I want to dive in. Seems like an easy choice at this point.

I just hope the Devs can keep pace and don't get burned out. They seem like nice guys as well as loving what they are making. Would be nice to see them succeed and go on to make more gems.

You taking your time to answer a players review makes me think its worth buying the game.
