I was recommended this game by a friend who is a big star wars fanboy. With the premise that this would be a souls-like game. I am severely disappointed in this title for the fact that it's a super short story with only the bare basics of what could have been. Dangling "'Member berries" for value. This is abhorrent in game design, it holds your hand through the entire game. If it did so in the first two hours, it'd been okay. But the game should have let you open it up instead of dragging its feet over the span of 20 hours. I found myself bored with the character interactions, seeing it only as a slapped on feature. The customization options were bare minimal. To top it all off, it's published by EA. I respect Respawn, but all I could really see in this is a star wars Titanfall mashup in terms of story and gameplay. The franchise deserves better.

Let me make one thing clear starting off. This game is fan-fricking-tastic with gameplay and strategy. I can recommend this game to anyone, with a smile on my face. But bare with me as I make what I hope to be a worthy rant. I've played this game since it came out and loved every minute of it, until now. For some reason, for some ungodly reason this game has become infected with a disease. You know how a friend might recommend turning off voice chat when playing any FPS game on Xbox Live because it's full of cancerous pricks who stroke ego by "trash-talk"? Rising Storm has been plagued with the same, and it wasn't always like that. When I was playing Darkest Hour '44-'45, comms used to be enforced (for realistic servers.. Unless you're doing DM.)

I come back to Rising Storm because of the fun times I've had there and now all I hear is "You shouldn't tell me what to do when you live in your mom's basement, oh and your mom is fat, I know this because I did her last night. Hi son." When I'm trying to listen for "Enemies flanking left!" or "Enemies charging on C!" "Watch out, grenade!". I've honestly considered turning off voice-chat all together so that I can enjoy the game for what it is, a enjoyable match of skill and logistics. But the only problem is, is that voice-chat is honestly half of the game. You can't just not listen for orders, and typing takes too long and is totally dumb to do unless you're already dead.

I know some of you might make a remark saying "Go play a different game then." Well, I would.. But I like Rising Storm. You just get that special spark with it when you're in a trench, and enemies think that they flanking you but oh no, I've got them lined up in my sights. My point is, is that hopefully at some point in time I can find a server, or a clan that I can play RS with and not have to listen to Cide's voice-changer, and Wooly being a terrible Team Leader and not leaving the role.
