Trying to tie game content updates into useless civ leader dlc is such a scummy money grabbing ploy.

Game is good but there is no team balance, just get lucky and swap to the better team and steamroll. No fun for either side. This game is in desperate need of a proper team balance system because the current one is garbage.

*SMALL SPOILER AHEAD*

Walking through the swampish area after getting smashed to a bloody smear by various huge monsters and the like, I come across some torch wielding, shuffling zombie looking mofos mumbling something about fire? Def look like some baddies. Not only that but they are really easy to kill! Like, really easy... like, that one is running away and hiding in a corner... uh oh. Ok so not EVERYTHING is hostile, good to know.

Continue on my blood smearing journey through the swamp till I see a pyre with some unfortunate person trapped on it and a bunch of the pacifist torch wielding zombies surrounding it. Interesting! I'll go see what they ar- OMG! A huge ass dragon drops out of the sky and scatters them all to the winds! As are my bowels.

This game rocks.

When you build a lumber mill a little dirt path connects to your settlement!

Not often a new game can create an enjoyable and unique world. The audio work is also spectacular! Turn down the lights, put on the head phones and enjoy... the long dark!

- I do not have a crazy cpu but the game still looks exquisite. The artwork on the UI, terrain and units is beautiful, in addition the different elevations of terrain complement the rivers, mountains, waterfalls and other features very nicely. The different biomes feel a bit squished but still manage to look amazing, like playing on an extremely detailed board game.

- The attention to detail is amazing, you can heard small groups of animals with your cursor reminding me of Black & White. its just an aesthetic touch with no actual game play impact but something I admire (have not confirmed myself yet but some wildlife like lions apparently can hunt your little people walking around town). In addition the blurbs of speech the avatars give during diplomatic interactions is also a nice touch. Speaking of avatars...

- Leaders, or Avatars, actually look somewhat human! I was surprised the level of modification you can do to change the appearance. Compared to Civ where the leaders look like some Paw Patrol incarnation of what a human would look like, this game does a MUCH better job.

- Zero technical issues so far, no crashes, no fps issues ect.


I haven't had a chance to delve deep into the game because I have been admiring how beautiful it looks. Review may change as I dig deeper but so far this game rocks.

If you have ever played Final Fantasy Tactics then the combat system will be familiar to you. The "scenery" mechanics take a bit getting used to but add an interesting dynamic. While I'm not a huge fan of the Archie comic style for the characters you get to play, the antagonists animations are pretty interesting.

That being said, dont let the animations fool you, the combat can be punishing. Playing on the difficulty where "none remain unscathed" and they are not joking.

Lastly, any game that has some element of reading is a big plus, would recommend this to any parent who wishes to encourage reading with their kids.

Fun game with a dedicated dev team!

While the game is fun the current price is beyond insane and no way reflects the value of the game. Even after getting it on sale I feel like I spent 5$ too much.

- Maps, very little variety given how small and simplistic the designs are.
- Units, poor variety, you get a barracks and mech depot that each can be upgraded 1 tier to unlock additional more powerful units. Again, for the price the amount and variety is underwhelming
- Factions, for the game price I would expect 6-8

The game's only saving grace is the niche style but again, for the price, it makes it feel like it is taking advantage of people's love for a genre. A pity.
