I backed this game when the Kickstarter opened a few years ago, where I donated enough to get my character in the game as a "special opponent." For various reasons outside of the game itself, I didn't plan on playing the game beyond my character's involvement, as I just wanted to see where he ended up. It really sucks to now see that this is not going to be possible, as the game cannot progress beyond a mandatory encounter in week 2 without softlocking entirely. This is also a very common trend with this game, as it softlocks over almost anything at random times.

I've put a little over 7 hours into the game, where I have only reached week 2 due to constant restarting, and I have had the game freeze up over:
-Entering a player battle
-Exiting a player battle (very frequently)
-Exiting a story battle
-Talking to the tutorial NPC (every single time, apparently this is a very common one)
-Opening the party menu (multiple times in week 2)
-Entering a cutscene (Archy, also a common one)
-Exiting a cutscene

Even when ignoring everything outside of the game itself, I cannot recommend this game as it is. With how frequently it locks up and how difficult it is to get controllers to work on here to avoid the strange keyboard controls, I cannot suggest anyone purchase this in its current state. Maybe some patches in the future will iron these out, but I am not holding my breath, because of how many variants of softlocks have been reported. It's such a shame because this game has multiple cool ideas and concepts, but it just isn't worth it when the hardest part of the game is trying to play the game itself.

Also just to put salt in the wound, the mandatory encounter I cannot get beyond right now is two rooms before my character's encounter, turns out. Pain.

Edit: I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, went all the way to where I left off, and actually managed to get past the original part of week 2 I couldn't get through? But the listed bugs above still happen?? I have no idea. But the best part is that now I am permanently stuck before the final boss of week 2 because the dialogue after choosing which four party members you use softlocks the game every single time without fail. Unending yikes.

PAYDAY 2 is fun. I'll open this with that statement.
PAYDAY 2 is a co-op (or single player, if you're a lonely individual) theft and stealth game. Each team of (usually) 4 players use their skills and brains to steal from banks, shops, gangs, and even the FBI. Fun? Yes.

Pros? Fitting soundtrack, great sound effects, decent voice acting, reasonable difficulty rankings, and many missions to play from.

Cons? Cloakers are very difficult to handle early game, leveling up can take a very long time, playing alone or with random people usually leads to failure.

Overall? HIGHLY recommended. 8/10

Another fantastic game by Telltale.

If you have never played a Sonic game, 2D or 3D, this is a game you should pick up. It has excellent 2D and 3D levels that are both breathtaking and exciting. Easily one of my Top 10.
