Great gameplay, awful writing. The dialogue is really uninspired and just seems like it was thrown at the wall to see what sticks. There's no real character or moral development from Persona 5, just more of the same. Our main heroes act like they've never had any life experiences outside of what the game shows you, as if they're just actors in a show. Regardless, the game is fun, I just find myself cringing at the rather second-rate plot points and superficial character development.

EDIT: After completing the game, and likely going on to 100% it, I'll change my review to recommend. The writing and storytelling is still quite sub-par, but the gameplay is still exponentially fun, even as a musou-style.

Quite possibly the most infuriating controls I have ever used, at least using a controller. Vincent jumps around randomly and moves blocks despite what your inputs on the controller may do. For me, definitely impossible on Hard since probably at least 20% of my moves are accidental because of the controls, so I need my rewinds.

For the puzzles themselves, a good amount of them are just downright irritating like that stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss baby level. I think this is probably hit or miss for most people. Even foregoing the irritating aspects of some levels, it does get repetitive, even with the new types of blocks introduced in the later floors.

If you can get past the, in my opinion, horrendous controls and the few lackluster floors in the "dungeon", I actually would recommend this game. There's some awesome writing in this game, typical of a good Atlus product. Lots of interesting characters with realistic depth to them. There is some really great world-building and story development which makes me enjoy Catherine a hell of a lot more as a decision-making simulator rather than an outlandish puzzle game.

So yeah, outside some of the ridiculously infuriating boss levels that knock you down like 6 levels of blocks, I think the game is pretty decent.

This is literally the most broken game I have ever played.

If you like basketball, don't get NBA2k15 on the PC.
