Now imagine all of those videos you watched back before this came out...when ArmA 2 was the definiative hardcore, large map and large group FPS/TPS... especially when ACE came out to improve the experience further...this is pretty much that but all wrapped up and without the need to download a mess of mods to get the experience. You will find yourself legitimately yelling when you play, whether it's to clear the backblast on your rocket launcher (You can injure people with the backblast) or making panicked call outs on enemy positions...that's how immersive this game was to me.

Pros:
-Large maps, varied teams and equipment (much like old Battlefield games)
-Huge teams. Supposedly going to be 50v50.
-Solid VOIP, you can swap between local area chat, Squad chat and Squad leader(command) chat (if you're a squad leader) to better coordinate your attacks and communicate with other squads
-Intense Firefights
-Building of fortifications to better defend objective

Cons:
-Early access title, glitches are to be expected
-Optimization needs work
-Pretty expensive for it's current state, wait until it goes on sale.

Bought the game today since it was on sale and so far it's very enjoyable. Like DayZ but simpler, with a little bit more flushed out environment.

Fixed up an ATV I found and as I'm driving down the road I see a cop car driving down the opposite lane, he flips around and starts chasing me, yelling in Japanese. I reply with the only phase I can say fluently in Japanese "Ore wa ochinchin ga daisuki nandayo." and suddenly this guy is laughing so hard he crashes his car into the ditch and I duck into the woods.

Great game, Played the mod for years and finally decided to get into Standalone, With .60 the graphics look great and I actually get decent frames unlike Arma 3. Though one of the biggest things I can stress to all the salty reviews about getting killed too much or whatever...try not playing public servers? I mean, I've played my share and killed plenty but if you want to have interaction why not try getting into a whitelisted RP server? It's not that hard and it's guaranteed to be the best way to have that interaction you so desperately desire. DayZAsylum and DayZHunger to name a couple are decent RP servers where you have to fillout a short application and wait a little while to be whitelisted where you're pretty much safe from KOS.

Pros:

-Looks great with the current build

-Updates look promising

-Gun play feels good, albeit a bit wonky every now and again

-Diverse servers and players ranging from Roleplay servers and PVP servers

-Mosin Nagant

Cons:

-Glitchy as ♥♥♥♥ when you don't need it to be

-Git Gud PVP community (especially the guys with M4's killing fresh spawns)

-Player character is the neediest ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ever, he needs to eat like 67 times a day and drink

-Hyperthermia

-Tracksuits are not Adidas

8/10

Edit: .61 has made this game a much more intense game, with Zombies spawning dyanamically based on a player's radius the spawn beacons, wolves coming from the woods in packs and with the new lighting and sound system it's looking and sounding even better.

Edit 2 electric boogaloo: Mods have addressed about any issue I can think of besides the jank, we have bears, a wider assortment of weapons, clothing options and vehicles (that should be getting improvements at some point this year) servers have broadened a bit from the vanilla experience, vanilla with lite mods, modded to play more like the old DayZ mods, PVE w/ PVP Zones, Solely PVE, Deathmatch and RP. The game continues to deliver a great atmosphere, regardless of what type of server you're playing on. PVP community is still fairly toxic but not as bad as it was before, but you'll still find a decent blend between a decent player trying to help out, the rats who will take any advantage they can get or the predator who will just end you for existing, really gives you that surviving a collapse of society feel. There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to feeling out where to get what you need to survive and just surviving. I put the game down for a couple years and opted to get back into it recently, disease feels like it did back when getting Cholera was an 8 IRL hour affair and I had to re-learn how to work around being sick which was honestly really engaging, considering in previous builds I only had to avoid sharing water bottles and drinking from ponds/streams, now you've gotta make sure you're using disinfected bandages or disinfecting any wounds you had to patch up with rags/sewing kits, managing your body temperature and keeping fed and hydrated to improve your immunity, keeping your distance from sick players, ect. In my opinion I think DayZ is getting to be the best it's been and only getting better between a fairly stable player base and all the information you could ever need to figure things out online I gotta say that you should buy it if you haven't yet and if you've shelved it for a while like I did, jump back in...it's good.
