Game is pretty retarded tbh. It can spawn 100% unwinnable random encounters minutes into a new run.

I'd go as far to say that this DLC is mandatory for getting the most enjoyment out of the game.

After finally learning the game, I ended staying up playing till 5 AM for almost a week straight.

The Cradle of Humanity DLC is highly recommended if you're new and want a proper storyline to guide you into the game, otherwise vanilla just gives you several options that dump you into the middle of the sandbox with no direction.

The game has a significant learning curve especially when it comes to the UI but Egosoft is adding new tutorials in the 7.0 update and almost any question you have can be found with a google search.

What did people want from Dragon's Dogma 2? I personally wanted a larger landmass to explore, and a story that didn't feel like it was half finished.

What did we get from Dragon's Dogma 2? A technically larger landmass, yet it's entirely comprised of narrow corridors and overly mountainous terrain. It's so claustrophobic and unfun to navigate the same paths over and over again, and they all look nearly the same with no landmarks that you'd get with large open areas like the first game, so you're forced to keep opening up your map to see where you are and which path you're on. It legitimately has the worst map design I've ever seen in an open world game.

The story on the other hand is possibly worse in most aspects than it was in Dragon's Dogma 1 despite the story in that game also feeling rushed and fairly basic. 2's story is just a mess of half finished plot points where most threads never get a satisfying development or conclusion, and overall lacked the charm which Dragon's Dogma 1 had.

The new physics driven combat system is definitely a step up from the first game, so I guess at least there's that.

I could forgive the story if the game world was at least fun and enjoyable to explore, but exploration is basically non-existent because most of the good equipment you get is from shops, and having the exploration basically spelled out for you (go down this corridor to find a cave) is completely antithetical to what makes exploration enjoyable in the first place.

We waited over 10 years for a sequel to Dragon's Dogma and it honestly pains me to have to give it a negative review.

Game is a technical mess and still constantly crashes, disconnects, and has matchmaking issues over a week after launch.

Edit: They broke text to speech so now instead of just reading chat, it reads every UI element you mouse over. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incompetent devs.

Namco needs to remove chip and health recovery. There's zero reason why this game needs two compounding comeback mechanics i.e rage damage increase and recovery.

The game now also has a FOMO battlepass.
