Heard about this and saw a streamer play it and was like, damn you know playing a game to music is always fun yea? Playing it to the beat of the music seems challenging and even better rewarding. There's an immediate difficulty curve when you first play, but if you're fine with dying and learning the game a bit more every time you'll get through it very nicely. The first boss was annoying to learn though I did have to look up how to get by him. Once you know what his attacks do, you can gauge similar attacks from other bosses or enemies going forward. They're not entirely obvious on what they do because they're very stylistic to how they function in the game, but not in a way that you know what's going to happen.

I do recommend changing your keybinds to something less taxing on movement. Reload on R is quite awkward when you're needing to do specific beat movements and DPSing at the same time where you sacrifice movement (which is a death sentence) or DPS (which is not ideal) to reload on the beat. I wish I did this ages ago, but I went through the whole game with default settings. I wouldn't recommend that.

Fully completed every playable character as of this review, so just under 10 hours for me to complete. Each of them is different in setups. Some of them are entirely unique based on the type of game this is which was a fun challenge.

I would also highly recommend getting an initial feel for how the game plays on easy mode in like 3 attempts, but go straight to hard mode. I know you know you want the energy pumping through you. Hard mode will crank that intensity up and make the game feel very rewarding to play.

I do hope there's more content coming in the future, but even if there isn't it's entirely worth the price to play this game. I do hope they iron out some bugs a bit (like how the extra life shield can be consumed if you press the shield action slot, essentially removing that extra life from your inventory which is not very fun on the most difficult character to play). I've played rogue-likes, FPS games, and rhythm games. Never all 3 at the same time. Despite a few grievances including how bosses can be complete pushovers rather quick or how the inverted version of floors is literally impossible and kills runs, this was very enjoyable and I'll probably try playing the extra abilities unlocked for every hero for a second run through (except the last one his extra abilities aren't good).

As someone who went through all of the hardest levels and challenges in the first game with even the most minimal amount of possible and even with how unfair it was at times this game just kicks it up to another level. Not with the legitimate difficulty of the levels, but with rather how broken, unpredictable, and downright illogical the NPCs and items act. It makes your game very frustrating to play when you cannot make up a solid plan on how to actually attack each level and this is especially the case when you take well over 10 attempts to combat awful NPC placements and behaviors vs. a 'test attempt' to scout out the next level and beat it in 10 minutes.

The controls on this game are so sticky that a lot of the obstacles are merely luck driven as you mash your keyboard until you get it to work. 6 hours spent in this game, and I've also nearly beaten it and feel nothing but despair from playing it. It's just awful.
