Early Access Review
After playing 2 hours of this game, i can already tell that this title will beecome huge. it's blade and sorcery with rpg skills to level up, loot to upgrade and a robust physics engine. This game also gives you massive diablo vibes with its portal mechanic, and the home town itself.

I have been waiting a full year since getting my index for a proper vr co-op adventure, this is it! VR games are finally stepping up as a medium, and this game is part of the movement!

the only con so far from what i experienced is that aiming at items to read their stats and grab from afar is finnicky.

Edit: multiplayer is out and it's a blast!!!

Disregard this

A few days ago, when i heard spelunky 2 was coming out, i was excited.

my excitement grew even bigger when i saw the game tagged as "online COOP", "finally all the fun of spelunky, but without sharing a camera", i thought.

it turns out, sometime between then and now, the tag for online coop was removed and the steam version is stripped of this feature as of now...

the game is cool i guess, it is much harder than the first one, and there is a lot of new stuff to try out. but i can't help but feel shafted that i played 2 hours before realising they didn't include online coop.

tl;dr:

If you are buying this to play with a friend online. wait it out, the feature isn't included on pc with this release, all we have is local and solo. i read that it would take "a few weeks at most", very dissapointing regardless.

Recent changes in the progression system has caused me to come back and change my review, i recommend trying the game again to anyone who had the same complaint as me.

i've recommended against this game even though i love it for one simple reason, the grind, i'm a survivor only player so this review will be biased based on that. your first 100 hours or so will be amazing, the game is exciting, learning the ropes is fun. the killers and maps are varied enough to keep things interesting and the gameplay on its own is good enough to keep you interested.

once you get to a point where you feel confident in your skills and understanding of the game mechanics, the game will boil down to perks, you will need to reach level 40 with every survivor/killers in order to unlock their exclusive perks (granted you don't need ALL of them) and this is separate from killer perks, so in total you have 19 survivors and 17 killers to put 8-9 million bloodpoints into in order to achieve "completion" this game will take around 300 hours to get remotely close to having a comfortable perk build.

blood point farming is excruciatingly slow; we're talking about 20k of them for a good game, most games however won't get you that amount. its nice to have something to work towards, but this is excessive, and i'm almost maxed on old school runescape for ♥♥♥♥ sakes, so you can take my word that this grind is insane.

you can't buy bloodpoints and this baffles me, because it looks like everything is in place to incentivize players to do just that.

tl;dr

this game is good until you realise that you will need to give up everything else in order to get anywhere with your perk builds, then the charm will die and you will feel like it's a job. it's fun if you can put up with that, but i'm almost a maxed main on OSRS and even i can't put up with that. be warned.

The game is fun for sure, however lack of an online 4 player mode and controller issues are preventing me from recommending this game. the roster is really small and some characters are imbalanced (zetterburn). the stage selection is also rather minimal.

either wait for it to be on sale or steer clear from this game, it's hardly worth more than 10 hours of playtime in it's current state

This game might sound funny bad at first, but it is actually unplayable, the moment you start the game the camera constantly spins to the right. did not even have a single laugh
