Its good.

No, really. Its good.

Payday 2 is a 4 player co-op tatical shooter with a great setting and no real story. But its a drop-in, drop-out 4 player co-op FPS game, if you are expecting a story your on crack.

Strong points are a massive collection of very satisfying guns, well paced music, and just enough randomness to keep you on your toes.

Weak points? Some of the missions can get VERY repetitive, but they are far and away the fastest way to get money and experience. And this game does require some experience. Each class feels the same until you get up into level 30 or 40, where the cool strengths of each class comes out. But once you get there, its crazy what you can do. Find 3 friends with voice comms, and you can have self generating stories. Ask my about the last day of Big Oil some time.

Update 2/12/15: I have to modify my opinion somewhat after calling out a different game on its blatent DLC money grab (COH 2, Im looking at you!). Yes, this game has an ever increasing amount of DLC that has far surpassed the retail price. And most of it is really good and should be purchased.
However a saving grace is this: Go look at ALL the DLC, and see how much of it is free. There is a TON of free content, and its been increasing at a good clip since launch. The paid stuff hasn't felt like 'pay to win' at all yet, but what has been added frequently feels like nicely thought out sidesteps. High capacity shotgun secondary weapon that can shoot explosives? Somehow not OP, but has some interesting uses at high difficulty levels.

Update 9/6/17: With the game now gone free to play, and the Ultimate Edition being out there, its great. The improvements that have happened since I pre-ordered this have been so drastic, that I'm not sure I would recognize this as the same game. Even thru its trials, its been a fun game, and now its a Fantastic game. Good co-op games are hard to find. This one is a no-brainier.

Final Update 11/21/18: And now its done. Its been a great ride. Its by no means flawless, but its flawless FUN. Portal to the elemental plane of Cops and everything.

Final FINAL update: 8/21/2023: Its done. Its been 10 years and its done, and its gone and transformed itself from a fairly good game, to a pinnacle of 4 player co-op. Its still flawless fun. And its send off heists have been utterly outstanding. Its been a blast, and lets keep those helmets popping in Payday 3.

Eve Online. Whats there to say about a 10 year old MMO thats still GAINING an audiance. Even with its massive leaning cliff. Even with its obtuse politics. Even with its massivly complicated combat system. Even with Goonswarm and friends. Long story short, its all of those insane things that make it SO GOOD.
Is it spreadsheets in space? Yes it can be, but it can also be a game that you play for the truly dedicated community. So dedicated they should be locked up.

Its funny. I said that Saints Row 2 was "Zombie Hookers with chainsaws and clown wigs" fun. Apperenty you can do that in Saints Row The Third.
Simply, its insane. Go beat a grannie to death with a dildo bat, and youll see. Plus it runs much better then SR2 on the same machine.

Its what GTA 4 would have been if they didnt make GTA:SA. Its a flying leap over the top. Mindblowing fun. Hookers with machine guns fun. Hooker zombies with chainsaws and clown wigs fun.
However, its one of the worst console ports in the last 5 years. It sucks hard on your PC and dosnt give that much back in return. If you dont mind some substantial framerate loss even with above recommended specs, its worth it.

Honest to God. Bioware knows how to tell a story, and this is space opera on par with Firefly and Farscape.
If for some reason you havent played this, drop everything on your list and go do it right now...

It will make you laugh, make you cry, and you will want to play it again and again. Its like Cats, but with less furries.

It has a few little issues, such as lack of native gamepad support (but your on PC, so there is a fix for that), and some odd little driver problems.

This is the second act of possibly the best sci-fi action-rpg ever made. Do your self a huge favor, and go start a brand new game of ME1, and play all the way thru to ME3. If you dont at least blink away half a tear at some point, your doing it wrong.
