Playing through this game felt like watching a pitch presentation of a few young game designers who were yelling over one another "You know what would be cool?!" and at no point anyone else pointed out that it's "too much" or "dumber than gamer girls selling their bathwater".

The game simply cannot decide whether to be a parkour-type zombie smasher, a story-heavy emotional rollercoaster or a stealth/survival game. You get a bit of each, and end up with annoyingly simple combat mechanics with a story that tries to make you feel things without building proper relation with any of the characters beforehand AND an inventory/resource management that's there simply to waste your time. Dialogues were so horrible and long that my group decided from the get-go that we should skip side quests to preserve sanity.

Most of the time I'm okay with games having issues when they can be co-oped with friends. But then there's Dying Light, which really doesn't "pay off" at any point of the game. Sure, we had a few laughs at the game mechanics not making sense and seeing each other fall to death, but that's hardly worth the 15 hours experience of the main story that is some of the worst writing of a horror zombie apocalypse yet.

Avoid this like it's a ♥♥♥♥ on fire, unless you like games where 50% of the time is climbing and looking "for the right way", 20% mostly meaningless gathering resources/zombie fighting and 30% brain-numbing dialogues and cutscenes.

Playing DoTa 2 is like drinking vodka: It's addicting, draws all the russians, and makes you regret each time you do it.

10/10. Will play forever.
