This is one of the greatest 4-player co-op games of the decade that has absolutely perfected the joy of shooting and shredding the enemies of democracy.
But there's an enemy bigger than anything Super Earth has faced.

Fellow citizens and patriots, we face an axis of evil in Sony, Take-Two, Activision, Electronic Arts, and others we know but do not deserve to be named.

Do NOT sign up for PSN or Playstation Plus. Let the communist automatons at Sony know that our freedom may not be pilfered.

Managed democracy isn't in Sony, it's in us.
May liberty prevail.

EDIT: MAY 5th, 0430 ZULU TIME, 30 MINUTES AFTER VICTORY

Sony has capitulated. Democracy is saved. I love you all. This is the greatest community ever.

Buy this game.

Imagine getting kicked from the tutorial for being idle for a minute while you change your settings.

No thanks.

I'm not sensing the polish in this game yet and I'm not sure I like the story that's been added since early access.

I played in Early Access and loved it for the 3 ish hours I played it. There's simply no game with gameplay like Shipbreaker. But it was just about the first week of EA and there were only two ships to rip up so I wasn't going to bother grinding.
I started again after 1.0.
The way the ships were redesigned so the way you take them apart just makes sense- that furnace and processor bits aren't combined anymore was a huge step forward. It's fundamentally an alright game mechanically.

The story is okay, but completely missed an opportunity to wow me with detail by not changing the Everwork gene extraction part of the intro while playing in No Revival mode (As of me writing this). I know that sort of fine detail is mostly only common of indie games (Maybe Blackbird isn't an indie studio? Whatever?) but- it's just... A foul ball that could have made me really appreciate this game. I know we're working for an evil space megacorp and we're not supposed to have agency but- you could have at least acknowledged the agency we DO have in choosing difficulty and the meta of this being a videogame. Oh and I checked the discussions board for the game after seeing that. I'm not the only one who noticed. In regards to that, this game isn't even ready for permadeath gameplay in the first place. For the record, I'm not playing on No Revival for my main playthrough but my first death was in one of the tutorial shifts (Yes, a tutorial. Go ahead and tell me I suck) for pressurization hazards to a pressurized side hull of a Mackeral that was VISIBLY open to space. Yes, it was pressurized on the scanner and thought this was an error, so I opened it anyways. Upon breaking it, it pulled me towards it, smashing my face against the hull and killing me almost instantly. That was baffling.

It's great fun. If you enjoyed Viscera Cleanup Detail, you'll probably love this too- I'm a fan of that and I'm also a fan of 6DOF space games so that works out just fine. I'm just not feeling the love in how your collision model is just a head without a body, and the story is just... Well it's just kinda alright. Megacorp bad. Workers good. Somehow it doesn't have that blue-collar worker feel in the story that I wish it had but whatever.

Odds are, you'll play this game and love it. There's simply nothing in existence like it, but I'm just not immersed in the ways I wanted to be and the ships can still sometimes kill you in ways that don't seem fair or expected. So, in the name of finding the average I think it deserves, I'm giving this one a thumbs down.

I'm not going to stop playing though. It's fun and I'm at least a little interested in the story. Maybe I'll change my mind later and edit this.

It's Duke Nukem 3D!!! What more is there to say? Anyone who calls themself a gamer aught' to have played this classic, so stop playing Call of Duty and play something that was badass before anything else was.
