Fun & full of potential but with some issues.

This could be the next Minecraft. If planets had more interesting systems like a planet that becomes radioactive at a certain time of day and requires hiding in a radiation shelter or if it had wild life that could help/kill you; it would be much more interesting. How about using the diverse plants to craft things? It would be great if collecting plants and farming them had a real purpose like crafting certain things. Like why is it not possible to farm in order to then put the organic matter in some machine that turns it into Organic nuggets. Instead the soil machine just provides you with everything you want quickly and easily. There could be some equivalent to the mine cart and mine rail system but adapter for astroneer such as a vacuum tube that transports anything it sucks up at one end and out the other so you could make a sort of transport system for things you collect underground without having to go up. There should also be a way to build an elevator. I have so many ideas of what this game can be. Right now, it has just enough content to warrant the price but the amount of content is not as high as you might expect or want from such an incredible sandbox engine like this. If the devs keep adding major new systems then it will become a must buy for all. As it is now, its still a fun little game with friends for awhile though.

Unfortunately it has some cons too.

The larger vehicles are insanely laggy. One of the exciting features was suppose to be creating a giant rover and attaching three trailers with a crane and big drill and just carving through mountains and leaving paved road behind you to create an easy way back. Super exciting stuff.... until you experience some bugs. The world seems to despawn and suddenly your vehicle is floating in mid air or falling through the ground. Eventually the game catches up and the world spawns back while the vehicle is there so suddenly a large amount of soil now surrounds and traps your vehicle. Of course the vehicle can't move so you must get out of the vehicle and dig it out. We ran the game on my friend's powerful PC (rtx3090+threadripper) and it was happening. We also ran it on a dedicated server to see if it would be better than p2p and same issue. The crane also just sometimes doesnt work. It just won't drill at all. Other times it will start working again for a short time at random. Crafting a large rover/crane/paver are all expensive but seem worth it until you realize it doesn't work well or at all sometimes. While I do have a few other minor annoyances like the waypoint platforms instantly killing you when you walk off them even though the step is like 30cms high, nothing compares to the vehicle situation. So if you aren't excited about vehicles then I guess you should buy the game. Just keep in mind that this game has some competitors that do automation/machines better right now so this is a big selling point of Astroneer which gets entirely nullified by the bugs. Hopefully they can fix that.

Great potential. Needs a lot of mini-games because right now you explore the whole game quickly but so far the engine, graphics and social aspects are great. Huge potential for streamers who want to interact with their community in a large free social chatroom.

By far the best "werewolf/killer" game on any platform. They also have a card game version that is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend both.

Unfortunately this smash clone (and proud to be) does not natively support gamecube controllers yet, leading to a terrible experience with such a controller.

The features are very basic. No game settings online, no 2v2s, no spectating, very few characters, no ranking, no matchmaking to find opponents your level; etc (list goes on). A casual player will have a very poor experience right now. The game its in current stance is not close to being worth 15$ so I strongly suggest you wait until full release.

7 Minutes to Boredom is a new indie game by 'The Fun Pimps' where your poorly animated character tries to survive the night from glitchy zombies who's intelligence seems to be mediocre not because they are zombies, but rather because the coding behind them is atrocious. They can see you when you can't see them and they will do whatever it takes to reach you except for dropping down a two block high hole. If you build you defenses in a house and surrounded the doors with holes too deep to get out, they will not drop in it and die from spikes but rather they will start breaking the walls of the house.

If you start on a server during nighttime the difficulty will be too insane. Punching wood, punching zombies and sprinting is virtually impossible at night. Once you do have weaponry and items, the game becomes insanely easy. After establishing a base in a five story high abandonned building with a mate, we stood at the top of a ladder waiting for monsters to come up the spiraling stair case and meet their death to our lovely wooden spikes but instead nothing happened. Mind you this was on the Hard difficulty. We decided to go explore another area with guns and no base for a challenge but instead we just found ourselves one shotting everything with the pump shotgun who's bullets seem to be infinite due to some bug.

The lack of objectives, good graphics or even the 'fun' aspect makes this game a shameful purchase. I could not recommend this game to anyone not even a millionaire, not even if half the money went to charity. It may be stated that the game is in an alpha state but this feels more like a student project at a game design school. Even if the gameplay was to somehow be better in the full release, the graphics and animation are horrible and I doubt they can afford to completely revamp their graphics or modelling this far into development.

I've never written a review for a bad steam game (and god knows there are many out there) but this one I could not pass on because if I can save a single person from spending thirty dollars on it, then I will have saved thirty more dollars from possible the worst game purchase of 2013.

Got thirty dollars to waste? Donate to a charity for Christmas instead of buying this game. This way your dollars will be worth it. Please save your poor dollars from this miserable game.
