"Suffer with me"-Menendez

While I would say that this game is quite enjoyable and a fresh face lift from the original Rome Total War, I am hesitant to give it a positive review. I still will of course, but not without some restraint.

Firstly, after a couple of hours of play, it has become apparent that many features have been removed from battles, such as quickly being able to select all infantry, missile units and cavalry with the quick press of a button or (This one really irritates me) Not being able to move your army in formation with a simple right click. Now if you right click your army, it just fans out into a line like in the newer total wars. You cant even drag your army in formation anymore. The only way to move your army in formation is to group your entire army, then lock their positions. The only problem now is the only way to move their position is to unlock them.

This tediousness should have no place in a quick paced battle, especially in multiplayer. As such, large armies feel really sluggish to use and having more than 2-3 unit types makes quick controls feel impossible.

If these get fixed, along with the general useless feel of merchants right now and some of the bad ui setups, like the building browser, then I could see myself dumping many hours into this game, but every time i go into battle right now, I just wish I had auto-resolved.

One of the most god-awful dlc's i have ever played. Essentially multiple hours of boring fetch quests followed by even more search quests. No actual combat and very limited saves. If you make one wrong step, have fun losing 30+ minutes of gameplay. Also you can't just quit the dlc, once you start, you have to complete it.

P.S. Tinker is absolutely retarded and wont attack anyone you tell him to sic.

I just realized I never wrote a review for this. Well I think my inventory and hours spent pretty much sums it up. is a good game, great community and bastion of memes. Pretty in depth trading economy, hats,lots of weapon choices to change game play, good community, hats, plenty of maps and game modes, and hats.

My favorite total war game of all time. The changing army compositions of levy armies to a mixture of nights and professionals to late period gunpowder as well as dynamic mercenaries makes late game campaigns actually fun to play! Also the choices of castle vs town, crusading, exploring the new world and various historical events such as the black death and mongol invasion make campaign choices quite fun.

I cannot in good faith say this is a game I would recommend. However, I cannot say I hate this game, for I really don't. The best way i could describe this game is frustratingly fun and a great game for those who love history or immersive open worlds.
Pros:
-Quite an immersive world with quite a bit to do in each town, village, and even random encounters.
-Lively town/villages that do various things day to day.
-Historically accurate weapons, armor and architecture for the time.
-Based during real events in history, good game for history buffs.
-Decent graphics and hardly any clipping issues with armor. A real pro for an in depth armor system.
Cons:
-Save system is based on buying an expensive in-game item mostly besides completing main quests. Hours of game play can be lost on death or frequent crashes if you aren't careful.
-Terrible lock on system that seems to always choose the wrong opponent in group fights, as well as makes running from melee practically impossible by constantly turning around.
-Some side quests bugged with missing quest items, characters and dialogue options.
-Dlc's seem too short and not worth the cost.
-No crosshair for archery and cannot put polearm weapons in inventory or purchase any types, which is a shame for they are quite good and cool looking.
-Blocking attacks is not directional based, but rather the simple click of a button.
-Higher tier enemies riposte almost every single attack, as well as swarm in groups.
-Fighting on horseback is terrible and will almost always result in you to be dismounted
-Major battles are not "major", but rather chopped up into little fighting sections with black screens in between. There is usually no more than 16 people total at a time.
-Cumans and the main story line just seem to be cut out of the story halfway through for a fight against bandits one.
-Story ending so abruptly without any satisfaction.
-Needing to complete a long dlc quest chain before being able to get achievements or actually finish the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

All in all, I will admit that there have been many moments I have enjoyed the game, such as killing the bandit leader, first learning to riposte or winning the tournament. However, the more I seem to play, the more I find myself becoming infuriated. Still, like a moth to a lamp, i always return

I spent 10 minutes smacking a dead body with a club while eating chinese food. 10/10 gameplay.
