Love this. Got a ton of pixel art wallpapers that cycle through with no performance impact.

Update: The difficulty has spiked up a bit and death in this game has resulted in me tracking back quite long distances to retry certain points. A number of times my death was caused by the game stuttering/briefly lagging causing me to miss a jump. I've had to walk away from playing a few times out of frustration. I still recommend the game but these events have tainted my enjoyment. Hopefully there will be an optimization/bug fix for the stuttering soon.

TL;DR I highly recommend this game for the world it immerses you in, the characters you meet, and the quick response movement and combat - even if you get lost at times in this beautiful world.

I am not even particularly into metroidvanias, but this game has blown me away so far. The world they create is dark, mysterious, and at times funny. What has especially drawn me into the game is the movement and combat. The movement is fluid and I feel in full control. The combat is simple so far but very responsive. For me, this is were it steps above Ori. I never liked the combat in Ori where I recall going up to enemies and mashing the attack button. In Hollow Knight, combat is fast paced and requires intelligence on when to attack and when to dodge. It is challenging, but not too difficult. For comparison's sake, I have also been playing Shovel Knight and this is not as difficult.

Instant fun, but even more so if you put time into it. The skill ceiling is... there is no ceiling..! Great developers, too. Buy it!!!
