Discovered this through a friends' review, and it was gifted to me by another good friend. I can now only hope to convince other friends to give this lovely storytelling game a go. An absolutely wild ride.

A lovely game that has grown SO much over the years since it went early access. And has been added to and patched frequently even since full release. The devs are responsive to feedback and bug reports, and have built a lovely community on Discord.

The game itself is fun to play, and much deeper than it appears at first. It feels like it'll be a very long time before I run out of things to do and goals to accomplish.

The art is adorable, the puns are perfect, the music is memorable, and they clearly knew their fae. ;)

I... really wanted to enjoy this game. And I've stubborned through so far, and will likely finish it... eventually. But I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

The premise and gameplay are fun enough, and the visuals are nice. if you don't accidentally set all your parties on errands at first and end up sitting around bored forever waiting for one to come back so you can play. (Or cancelling an errand, which I was too stubborn to do.) Adding a 'speed up' option might fix this.

But the real issue is with performance and bugs. It's only been out for a little over a month at this point, so I can only hope this will be patched in future updates, but having tried to play it on 3 different computers now. (My ♥♥♥♥♥♥ work computer, my decent laptop, and my actually good desktop), the CPU usage is kind of high for what it is. It plays like I'd expect it to be a mobile game, but just draining resources. My work computer couldn't even handle it, so I switched over to playing ARK on my breaks instead.

Additionally if you look in the forums you might see tons of people having issues with the game freezing. Any time you stop playing and come back to the game, chances are the first few quests you try to go on will cause the game to freeze up entirely and have to be restarted. You have to find which quest it is the game wants you to play before it'll continue. After that first mission (even if you abandon it) you can then go on to play the mission you actually wanted. This is pretty aggravating both for the person playing and everyone on your friends list that has to see "___ is playing Valthirian Arc" 5 times before you finally get the game running. =P

I do hope they fix these issues, as it can be a pretty fun little jaunt when it is working properly.

This game is beautiful and has a very relaxing soundtrack. A nice unique take on the puzzle genre.

If you played the original NES classic and want some nostalgia-driven fun, this game's for you!
Guaranteed to get the themesong stuck in your head.

That being said, there's widely reported freezing issues on the last boss having to do with compatibility with certain graphics cards. So, play at your own risk.

As a fan of The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, this game is something I had been waiting for. And it delivered.
I feel terrible for waiting so long to review it.

The graphics, the controls, the story, the dialogue. All absolutely went above and beyond my expectations. This truly feels like a proper sequel to games that shaped my childhood.

Ragnar Tørnquist has proven time again to be a skilled writer that can make you laugh and cry on a whim.

That being said; if you haven't played the previous games you might be a bit confused. There are definitely references to the past games in a big way. Playing the previous games is not /required/, you still get a whole and complete plot on its own. But you'll probably have a nagging feeling you're missing some reference or some backstory. And you are.

If you're a fan of point-and-clicks and you can stand older graphics and TONS of dialogue, go back and play the others first. Hell, even if you played them before. You'll want a refresher on the story.
If you can't bring yourself to get through the duck puzzle again, find a lets play on youtube or something.
The worlds of Arcadia and Stark is worth diving into fully.

Some of this may be nostalgia-driven, but I very much want to encourage everyone I can to experience this rich, beautiful world.

This is an enjoyable, colorful game that doesn't take itself too seriously.
The joy, as with most Behold Studios games, is with all the silly references to things you love.
In this case, the references are focused on sentai shows, and it does a great job at mocking the genre while also making it clear that the devs/writers are fans of it.

Enjoy the music, the art, the cheesy plot, the references, the eye-rolling humor.

But if you're expecting a super-serious game, look elsewhere.

I definitely enjoyed this game.
Set in the flavor of old school dungeon crawls, this game will trigger nostalgia while also holding its own with innovative puzzles, the difficulty you'd expect from a game of the genre, and gorgeous visuals.

I loooooved the first Legend of Grimrock. So I was excited going in to playing the second. However, it doesn't quite seem to live up. The changing scenery is definitely nice. The puzzles are interesting enough.

I don't know if it's the constant trekking back and forth on a fairly large map, or the difficulty curve, or what. But I just couldn't get into it as much as the first.

That being said, it's still an enjoyable game. I liked it enough to finish it, though I don't know that I have enough love for the game to go back for the 'True' ending.

Regardless, if you enjoy old school style dungeon crawls, this game may be for you.

Note: If you're a fan of fan based content, you can always experience stories in the workshop that may be on par with or better than the default one. Giving this tons of replay value.

I couldn't tell you how many hours I've sunk into this game. Steam says 26~, but I mainly played it on Xbox at launch. Both on mine and over at friends'

Couch coop is the my main draw for this game, personally. And it's absolutely great at that.
The humor and ridiculous scenarios simply add to the atmosphere making it a great time.

If for some reason you still haven't played this, grab some friends and get to it.
