Ck2, this is a game that has redefined my expectations for strategy games. When you first boot up the game you discover you play a dynasty with your character at the head of it. What's the main goal? To lead your family into prosperity and become one of the greatest rulers in Medieval History. This game has some of the richest and most complex game mechanics I've seen in any strategy game. It can be tough to get into initially but once you find a good how to video that can help you get into the basics (seeing as the Tutorial is broken) then eventually things will start clicking. Being nearly two hundred hours into the game at the time of writing this review, I'm still finding new and interesting ways of playing the game.

This game isn't without it's faults; If you're familiar with Paradox then you're aware of their dlc policy, which is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥. You also get the occasional crash but no where near as frequent as some strategy game. Multiplayer works well enough, though I would avoid playing with too many people seeing as everyone can pause and there can be a lot of random text pop ups, letting you know about all manner of events that are transpiring in your realm and abroad. All the same, I found myself coming back to this, and even buying all the available dlc willingly (when there were sales of course) the dlc really fleshed out the game and gives it life. I can rationalize it for myself but then again I feel as though I'm getting my moneys worth. It's really up to you ultimatly. I recommend this game, but mostly for hardcore fans of medieval strategy games. 10/10
