Game works fine, devs fixed servers within hour of its launch.

Safe to say can ignore most negative reviews on this one, especially if just some meme joke or w/e. Also love the absolutely delusional comments on game versus actual time I've spent playing it thus far. Legit, game is fine, like I don't know wtf people were expecting from this, but this is literally all I expected it to be.

The old games, are outdated af. They don't support any 1080p+ resolution. The mods for the old games are outdated af, too, full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shoddy work tbh, shoe horned in extras when all want is res support and ffs they don't even support anything above 1080 cos, again they are outdated and haven't been supported by creators in eons. The servers are dead af and just as, if not even more janky. People have these rose tinted glasses on think this is some kind of injustice to a DEAD game series, when like I'm sorry folks, get over it, "let the past go, kill it if you have to". This is battlefront now, either buy cos loved those games and want a revamped version, or move on. The absolute maldfest pedantic children have had over, servers not being online at ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ midnight in north america for an hour is like, holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. If this isn't staged, then like, yeah, I'm done engaging with the gaming "community" at all. Ya'll never ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happy. Ya'll find any excuse ♥♥♥♥♥ and nit pick. Blame all game devs, blame all publishers, ffs, ♥♥♥♥ they supposed to know what to do when ya'll can never make minds up? xD

Rest don't fall in simple mald train hoppers, cos guess just new cool thing to do, either paid, or delusional EA "enjoyers" who can't accept reality of what could have had for BF3 versus absolute dogwater that were the EA BF games. Please Disney, just take them tf off, find another little dev like pandemic who actually has to work for a living, and give us a proper third game.

For now, I'll happily play this wonderful little update to a legit classic.

Early Access Review
Good game. Fun with friends.
Had no real issues with bugs etc, graphics work well I'd say actually given seems like intentional retro art style of like ps2 game or w/e(not to mention, like performance aint an issue right). Is bit of jank here and there, and obvi this isn't a super high budget game.

Tough game, wouldnt say unfair but some design decisions can make it tedious. Some things like think leave weight allowance alone but just give us few more slots so not doing the chest organisation shuffle every 5 mins. BUT tons o' mods and even difficulty settings for stuff like that, so it is kinda hard to hold the "main" game balance against the devs.

Another reason the above should mainly just be noted, and not seen as a mark off, in case "grindy" as game description makes you cringe is the level of immersion the game does have because of its "rules". Where game can be tedious or even bit brutal in its mechanics it is also very immersive with things like not having a proper chimney and accumulation of smoke leading to you dying while sleeping over night from carbon monoxide poisoning. World feels alive, and it feels dangerous therefore and when you "win" feel like actually put some time, effort and thought into it. So eh, makes super limited inventory slots etc a lot easier to shrug off versus a game that is lacking in that feeling.

Overall, yeah, deff say worth a shot especially if have an old "minecraft crew" of friends play games with and looking for something different and bit more focused than minecraft, or even just well done survival game to sink some time into.

First Impressions
Like if Valheim had a baby with the old OG Pokemon comics where people actually die, and theyre actually dangerous creatures.

Very well made for an early access title, reminds me of first time booted up BG3 and went "wellp...EA but clearly got a solid foundation for a game here with this engine, and gameplay"

Very little jank so far too, and unlike something like ARK doesnt take 17 hours to get basics of your base going xD More like 17 mins, so I'd put the grind meter at lite versus more hardcore survival games.

I only put positive because steam doesn't have a middle option.
On my fourth play through now, maybe with the fifth I'll be able to give a more detailed review.

In all seriousness, this is one of those games that's so good imho, whenever I have it installed I'm too busy actually playing it to even think of a review. It's the Witcher 3, one of the best action RPGs of all time. Nuff said'.

Is good game. Prob best online offering for AoE today.
Diff civs are unique and fun.
Graphics are good.
Campaigns are fun, might even learn some real history.

All in all, solid game.

Obviously a Trek fan. Really hoping this be a good casual "forever" kinda game like Gal Civ.

So, like best thing I can say really is some good "nostalgia bait" artwork for this game, but nothing better than what find scrolling through any Trek community group or a quick google search.

Whole experience of the game is very lack lustre. From simple things like the UI looking like baby's first unity game to soundtrack just sounding very stock and bland.

The tutorial was a joke, and obviously this is intended for people played games like Stellaris a lot before. Which is fine, tutorial doesn't make or break entirety of a game but yeah, again, lack lustre experience.

Game play, is your standard Gal Civ affair, just with more moving parts and zero of the charm of either Gal Civ, or the Trek universe. As to whether it's a better design or balance of this kind of game, honestly, not going to commit time to this to find out. Got other things I'd rather play instead like Armada 3 for Sins.

Graphics are bad, even at 4k and maxed out. Look really, really, really dated, like 2011 kinda dated, no jokes. The Trek mod for Sins is light years better looking, and even works in 4k, and that's a free add on essentially to an old game engine.

Technically, had no bugs or issues other than moving the camera around just feels kinda jerky, so that's good at least it's not like crashing etc all the time, just...again...bit lack lustre.

Overall?
Get tried, true, and tested, not to mention free mods for the following games instead:
Sins of a Solar Empire - Star Trek Armada 3
Stellaris - Star Trek: New Civilisations
Gal Civ 3 - More than a few ship, and civ mods

In it's current state, I cannot recommend this even to a diehard Trek fan, maybe like see it on sale for $10 one day try it out, but really, just feels like wasting your time playing this when there are far better, even far older, alternatives out there to play if you want a Trek grand strategy game...and they're fan made, offered for free, mods ffs.

Summary of my notes from playing skirmish mode match and the first half or so of the campaign missions.

Solid gfx, audio, and overall presentation. Excellent sound design as expect from Frontier(if played Elite and fought/been hyperdicted by thargoids before, you know what I mean), performance is good, maxing it out at 4k, no issues. (6900 gpu + 5950 cpu for reff). Like TW Warhammer, visually this is "table top comes to life" feels.

Standard "second gen" rts as I call them(which I guess is a "RTT" as recently learned), ie post Company of Heroes design. Capture points, not much in way of base building but do have research tree and match tiers like DoW. Has the classic AoE matches triangle balance for units, some care been given to bring over TT rules like how charges work and retreating. Slower pacing though, this is not a blitz rts like SC or DoW2, in this category reminds me of something like Battle for Middle Earth tbh.

Heroes, but havent seen anywhere where they level up or anything, so really like DoW 1 heroes if anything.

Decent skirmish AI, whooped my ass first match but can see if I practice it's not insane. Campaign missions can be little unforgiving but usually trying something diff, or learning from mistake etc will be the trick to the second try.

Writing isnt terrible for the dialogue so far, and honestly want to play out campaign just to keep watching what happens to characters, which is saying something given theyre otherwise generic stormcasts units.

Overall? If you're a diehard rts player thats been desperate for something new with some quality presentation to it(ie, little bit above typical indie fare imho), and/or big into AoS should be worth price tag for ya.

If just casually interested, I'd wait for sales and/or some kind of bundle in future, get a feeling going to be some faction pack DLCs etc coming down the pipes if this catches on like we see with the Warhammer total war games.

Oh last note. Geez is is nice when boot up a game these days, no sep launcher(need log in for mp tho, but eh, gotta track your stats for match making etc somehow I guess), no game ending bugs, no weird ass glitches or messing around with windows updates etc for half an hour. It just worked. So, that's always nice with any new game these days.

Mid thumbs review button steam get on it.

Went positive only because game wasn’t a technical nightmare to run, just…well…kinda mid af as a CoH game, so wouldn’t really recommend it unless desp for some of that time period strategy, or have friends to play with.

Certainly not recommending buying at $80, wtf Relic? Like, I like to dream too but geez, be realistic, this is at best a $40 game.
