Thanks for the update, I'll be testing this tonight.

I'm quite sure what vdso mean, does it improve performance in games? Do we need to install or change anything to use the vdso patch?

For the people wondering, this Nvidia driver added support for the GTX 900 series cards and dropped support for the G8x, G9x and gt2xx.

A changelog can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/77844/en-us
Thank you.
Successfully updated my system now but only after I manually upgrade some packages with Synaptic.
The system kept asking for restarts in order to upgrade but still failed to apply every update.
This are the packages that the system was unable to update:

Snif!

Is there an iso with these changes?.. or do the nvidia drivers get installed with the first update once going through the install process.. i just don't fancy being presented with a black screen...
After a week or so on beta repo the update will be pushed to main repo. The main repo is source for installers. Users have to opt in to the beta repo to get the latest updates.
exim4 - Debian 7.7 update

Why does it need exim4?

Try again: http://openbenchmarking.org/result/1412051-PL-STEAMOSUP35&obr_sor=y&obr_hgv=147
But like I said, the differences are minimal.

You can install it through a terminal. If you go to the desktop and open a gnome terminal you can set a password with:
passwd
Then you can enter the beta by installing the package with the beta repo like this:
sudo apt-get install steamos-beta-repo

no i cannot get to the desktop thats my point LOL
Thanks for updating the benchmark link dubigrasu. The benchmarks are now viewable.
@midgetsaw Do you agree desktop should be activated by default?

You may just need to activate desktop!? You will find this option in bpm settings.

OR

use ssh or tty. ctrl + alt + (F1-F6) will open tty. just log on as desktop user and follow sharks's advice.
