Typical Steam Download Speeds?
Just curious as to how fast is your download speed when downloading updates/patches for games and games themselves. My record peaked at 1.2MB/s

I get around 9MB/s to the Manchester, UK server, and same for the London server.

4.3MB/s generally.

But that is the limit of my current connection, so it's all i would expect to see.

Steam can send date as quickly as you can download it. Steam is not a limiting factor there.

I get 11 MB/s (Megabytes) on my 90 Mb/s (Megabits) connection.

8Mb = 1 MB

There will almost certainly be a cap per user. The highest download speed I've ever seen from Steam has been 76.4MB/s which is 611.2Mbps. This person has Google Fiber with a download speed of 942Mb/s or 117MB/s

What about hardware setup? Were they running on a gigabit router? Hardwired or wireless? How many hops before it reaches the server? Were all the nodes working properly along the route?

Too many factors to consider and too much that would slow down the connection long before Steams servers would be an issue.

In the video he even showed his download speed after downloading the game for comparison. Steam didn't saturate his connection - So it wouldn't matter if he was on wireless or wired. He is on Google Fiber so it'll be a Gigabit Router

It's not his hardware because you see in the video his disk is writing faster than the download speed.
