You should assume that the malware has already done its damage. Changing your steam password and deauthorizing all other computers via a clean system (i.e. not the one which you just ran the malware on) is a good way to preempt the damage it could do before it gets a chance to do it.
I heard good things about https://www.malwarebytes.org/ when it comes to virus scan. So as far as cleaning your infected system, I'd suggest that.
