Unable to connect to the Steam network. 'Offline Mode' is unavailable because there is no Steam login information stored on this computer. You will not be able to use Steam until you can connect to the Steam network again.
So, I managed to ♥♥♥♥ up my Steam and now when I try running Steam it gives me that message. I have tried lots of different things (reinstalling the app, deleting certain files etc.) but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Have a look at this and see if it helps...

Refresh Your Steam Files

"I believe that Steam's files may be modified, corrupted, missing, or misconfigured. How can I restore Steam to its original state without having to reinstall my games?"

that didn't work...I don't really mind having to reinstall my games. I'd rather not reinstall them but if I have to I will. All I want right now is Steam to function properly

Ok...check this out and you can do it by moving the game folder and not have to reinstall if you wish..

EDIT...Did you follow the instructions exactly when refreshing the files ?

EDIT 2 if you do decide to reinstall Steam after Uninstalling it, check for any leftover empty folders from the uninstallation process before you reinstall it just in case...and restart your pc after you uninstall it.

Do you just not like to type or are you not able to be more specific here on what you tried and any new changes you may have seen ?

Respectfully, it is a little frustrating for me when I go through the trouble to find pages and link them here and type my advice out tryting to explain it well only to have the OP give back short and vague answers like this....

Thing is, there was an update for Dota 2 I was trying to download and Steam said it was queued. I tried lots of things tried to get the update to download but it didn't work. the problem I am currently facing appeared when I went to Steam>Settings in the Account Tab and I changed something in the update section it has. I clicked on something that said Steam beta or something like that. And from then onwards I've been facing this problem

Ok...thanks...that is quite a lot of uncertainties here....without knowing what you did it could be h ard to troubleshoot this...

I see nothing but posts about the beta giving users problems...I would first try to opt out of that if you can...

What happened with the reinstalling of Steam like we talked about before ? You should be able to follow that page and then restart and reinstall Steam.

I reinstalled Steam and restarted my PC but the same problem occurred. Any ideas on how I can opt out of the beta?

By this I hope you mean you uninstalled it then restarted and THEN reinstalled it like suggested before...

If you cannot log in your cannot change the setting for opting out of the beta I am pretty sure...you need a good clean installation of Steam.

EDIT...do you have another computer around that you can log into your account from ?
VeilStrider Jan 24, 2015 @ 5:47pm
You might need to change the download server. Try one close to your location.

yes I have another computer. So do I log in to my account from the other computer and opt out of the beta from there?

I would do that if you can, but we still need to have a good and clean installation of Steam on the other PC...at this point I have no idea of what you have done and what files are messed up like you said on that installation of Steam so you should uninstall Steam on it then reboot, then reinstall Steam...

Are both computers authorized through Steam Guard to use your account on ?
