$29 Steam Voucher giving me $14
So I live in Australia, and I get that when I buy a $20 Voucher in AUD it converts it to roughly $14 USD... What I don't get is that it costs $29 to buy this voucher.... I received one as a gift, and I feel like I was ripped off.

If I pay $29 and get $20 I would be happy, as it is about the right amount.... but $29 for $14??? So are EB Games charging me $9 just to buy $20 AUD for steam? or is there something wrong?

I searched around here and most people say that EB Games are fine, and that Coles or Woolworths are the ones that do it, but they are paying only $20 for $20 AUD.... this seems like a rip off.

You are absolutely right. It's insane to buy $20 voucher for $29. To buy $14 for $29 is ... what is that word again?

$20 for $29 is resonable if the $20 is USD.... As of RIGHT NOW, $20 USD = $27 AUD, so the extra $2 is fine by me for gifts, but If it is converting it 2 times that is rediculous

Oh, that's right.

if you paid $29 AUD for a "$20 gift card" and you only end up having $14 USD on your steam account, then you got scammed.

It feels weird for me to be "scammed" by a company as large as EB Games.... if you don't know what that is, it is bascially the Australian GameStop

Sorry, i don't get this. Do you buy vouchers of USD for AUD in australia and then convert them back to AUD? Why don't you have AUD vouchers in australia?
I've bought wallet codes before, and they were always for the exact amount printed on the card. I'm not sure why you would be charged 29 AUD for a 20 AUD card.

because it is probably only a $ sign on the card and does not specify if it is AUD or USD but i know they sell both in australia

over a year later, still happening, most likely because no one ever grew balls to simply complain with a megaphone.

1. receipt - $29 aud
2. gift card - $20
3. printout of purchase history on Steam that shows the wallet credit - $14 usd

go to the store and ask the manager what he wants first in his face. it is either a long-term undetected mistake and a broad scam no ones actually "cared" about for over a year.

$29 -> $14 is not possible in any direct currency conversion that uses AUD and USD, ever. not even taking exchange rates from the last century.

I buy a Steam voucher that has the value of $20 AUD, it costs me $29, meaning I get $14 USD when I put it in steam. either it should cost $20 to buy, or you should get $20 USD out of it.
