windows 8 compatibility

so i just bought a new gameing laptop and i installed my supreme commander fa on it i had from along time ago on to it and it worked for about 2 days but now it dosent work i have reinstall it and tryed to run it on compaibility mode but i keep geting this error mesage


This application is not compatible with the installed operation system.
Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better.

i know people playing FA on win 8 so i dunno, probably a problem of steam

whell yeah the thing is is that i didnt buy it off steam i bought the hard copy of the game im thinking i should just buy it off steam maybe that would fix the error measage.....thanks

Doesn't work properly on 8.1. This was true of the Preview, but now it's on full release it's still not working properly at all. I hate this damn OS!

yeah me 2 just started playing this again to find out windows 8.1 made it inpossible to play my mouse seems to be flikkering and creating massive lag I feel the same as u man

I hope somebody finds a fix for it or its time to go back to windows 8

If you have a hard copy you can use the cd key to get a steam version too.

I'm not having any issues with it... Strange, I'm using W8.1,,, I'm running in windowed mode if it helps?

I've actually taken the drastic decision to reinstall Windows 7, but that's also because I'm hating almost every aspect of Windows 8.1 so I'm betteroff anyway!

Ahh, maybe that does help. I woulodn't want to play in Windowed mode though (I'm so used to dual-screen now) but thanks for the suggestion.

i have windows 8 when i had windows 7 laptop it didnt work so... idk wut to say try reinstalling steam or something idk if that doesn't work IDK IDK IDK IDK!!!

I had the same problem recently with the same message. I went into my control panel and installed some important updated and now it works great. don't know if this will work for everyone but thought I should mention it.

i use win 8.1 and used 8 before, never had this problem
(i don't play via Steam but FAF, not sure if that's the reason)

I never hand problems running it on either windows 7 or 8

I know it's drastic, but I reinstalled Windows 8.1 and now it works fine. I'm not sure if it was an update I missed, but it works perfectly now. I may as well not own a PC if I can't play Supreme Commander, so this was a big deal! ;-)
