Recettear is an interesting combination of store simulator and dungeon crawl RPG. You're a young girl named Recette. Her father is gone and left her with a massive debt, and Recette runs a store to earn money to make the debt payments. In the main game, you have to get through about a month's time in-game, making payments each week.
If you can't make a payment, you will get game over. PRO-TIP: If you know you can't make a payment, spend all the money you do have on items. The items you have will carry over, but your money will not.
If you make all the payments, you beat the main story of the game, and you will unlock other modes.
Where does the dungeon crawl part come in? Recette can hire an adventurer to go in dungeons. Recette gets to keep any items found, up to the limit of items the adventurer can carry. It's a way to get free things to sell in your shop, but also you will find items that you can use for crafting into other items. You get to control the adventurer while in the dungeon. Each adventurer controls differently, so it's worth trying to use all the characters.
The best part about Recettear is there's tons of replay value, especially if you are one of those people who wants to collect all of the items to fill out the item catalog.
Probably the only bad things about this game is some of the items have extremely low drop rates, which can be frustrating, and the music can get pretty repetitive. But overall I recommend anyone who likes RPGs or simulation games give it a try!
