Avast detects dota 2 as a malware?

Something must have infected it. Did you opened a malicious file or something?

no but my workshop/custom games auto-update so could custom maps contain viruses?

Eh could be possible. It could be detecting it wrong.

As far as I know Avast and other anti-virus program are often *protective*. However I wouldnt risk it. Be very careful.

What does it say? Trojan?

This happened with my Av a few weeks back. Turned out to be nothing
