White Screen still?
Purchased the game on sale, 2 hours later (one of which devoted to trying to fix the issue) I'm requesting a refund. Should Steam's draconian refund policy not screw me for 5 seconds over two hours of play time, I'll knuckle down and try to fix the game.

Is there anything that has surfaced. I'm using a Nvidia 780 of course. I tried adjusting the settings, updated the graphics driver, reinstalled that mess of an app known as GeForce Experience, optimized the game, limited cores, and even tinkered around in Nvidia Control Panel.

I swear it's times like this where I wish it was possible to sue developers. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks chums!

Sadly no. Nvidia have released an "official fix" in one of the latest of their drivers, but as you notice it leaves a lot to be desired. >_<

I know some 780 users have managed to play the whole game, and their solutions are spread over the forum in various sections. The problem is that I have never found a common denominator to them, and as such couldn't include them into my Tweak Guide without making that whole section useless for the rest of players.

You might be able to find them if you search around though. But use Google, as I think the built-in search on these boards are broken and don't respect numbers.

Thanks for the hasty response chum. If I get screwed on the refund it seems I'll have to do some serious hunting. I think I'm pretty much finished trusting PC ports from here on out. What bothers me even more is that the game came with VERY POSITIVE so I decided to shrug it off and give it a shot. This sort of thing is completely unfair to the consumer and I really hope that the backlash, forces Squenix to- wait... what am I saying. It's Squeenix.

Such a pity.

This is a game is still really want to play, but it's appauling to see such apathy towards customers.

I am somewhat amazed at Square Enix Europe's response about it all, though. They actually managed to get AMD and Nvidia on it, to fix (sorta) what they could with the game.

Edit: Perhaps I'm overstating this a bit... Enough users wrecked hell here, Twitter, and on the official AMD/Nvidia boards so SE Europe might've not been the ones that actually initiated it from their end.

The fact that only those with the source code (Platinum Games I presume) can fix the central issues means that Square Enix Japan wasn't at all interesting in wasting any time on it.

So... :|

SE Europe seems to have done what they can, administratively speaking. SE Japan are dumb ♥♥♥♥♥ as usual.

Yeah I got my refund and I'm very disappointed. I've wanted the game for a very long time. However, even with the sale it's too much to expect for a broken game. If the price drops even more over time I'll pick it up and be willing to fix it myself. This has been a very sobering lesson. I never bothered with Square Enix because I was not interested in their games. This was the first and last time.

Other than GTX 780, I'm curious about RX 480. It was mentioned having the same problem with GTX 780

A whole slew of cards between the amd/nvidia series were having issues. I'm not a huge card officianado, but while roaming for fixes I did see RX but the number eludes me. This in and of itself is what really drove the nails down the chalkboard of my already irritated psyche. My patience has really run thin with these console developers who slip a product to pc and then shrug and walk off without granting any assistance. Then, the community for some, brain-numb reason sings the game's praises after having to do the work to fix it!

Okay sorry way off topic. Probably is all I can say.

Most RX 480 owners I've heard from (and me) thankfully don't experience the white screen crash anymore, thanks to AMD including a fix in one of their driver updates a while back.

Ah well that's good then. It's odd really I was hoping Nvidia would have done the same but for some reason it doesn't seem to be the case. Apparently it's a driver reset during strenuous scenes. I'm doubtful considering I've gotten the white screen while simply walking across a bridge, but who knows. When the game's cheaper I may pick it up.
