Any point in getting L4D1??
Seeing as all of the campaigns from L4D1 have been implemented into L4D2 is there any purpose to getting L4D1 in addition to L4D2?

What are the benefits?

Thanks.

Not really sure on benefits. Most of the campaigns have been re-released on L4D2, but you might manage a friendlier and more mature group of players on 1. Hard to say.
Well IMHO l4d2's new special infected are op compared to l4d1 so it is more noob friendly. Also there are no where near as many players compared to l4d2. I have them both but i will play l4d1 over l4d2 because i have more fun with l4d1. But its all up to you as to whether you get it or not
The overall quality of the game is higher (animations, ect), there are tons of custom campaigns that are exclusive to L4D1, there are far less bugs, the overall difficultiy is higher (because the game doesn't have any 'instant-kill on any difficulty'-weapons and won't drown you in weapons over the entire campaign), the community is far friendlier (at least in Coop),...

A perfect example would be the Tank in Coop.
L4D1 - Once a survivor is down, the Tank keeps attacking him (basically garantueed to kill him on Expert, good chances to do so on Advanced). If you set the Tank on fire, it doesn't take any damage from the fire but has an internal countdown of about 90 seconds going down AND it runs faster (higher difficulty = runs faster)
L4D2 - Once a survivor is down, the Tank runs away from him (basically garantueed its survival on Advanced and nearly every time on Expert), it takes actual damage when on fire and runs slower when on fire.

Honestly, I personally don't see a point in buying L4D2...

Same here. It just has a better feel to it.
I'd say the first one is has a better scare factor to it, you're always making sure the zombies are away from you no matter what, but on L4D2 4 guys standing there with chainsaws, no need to be scared, its fun dont get me wrong, but L4D1 is more horror.. You against 20 zombies with the butt of your gun, very different feel.
Bindal has good examples.

I don't understand though... all the L4D1 campaigns have already been imported to L4D2 have they not?

If you hate jockeys and their teensy erratic hit boxes, you'll appreciate L4D all the more. I prefer L4D not just for the atmosphere and overall better look, but I really hate some of the new SI introduced in L4D2. To me, the key to L4D2 is rushing from one saferoom to the next, there's not as much strategy or need for tactics once you learn the maps.

Yes they were, with all new fail guns and zombies. And their pathetic A.I.

Those 2 points are just proof how much l4d2 is better but at the same time how lame that valve supports it so much.

The tank incaping a survivor and moving on is a AI fix, which i think is a good thing. The tank becomes more challenging, also he will attack anyone who tries to pick up the incap survivor thus it makes a complete change in strategy. The same applies to the SI, they attack together now, rather than a single target, in l4d1, they all attack the same target until incapped or dead.

It becomes less challenging because the survivor, especially on Expert, is far more likley to survive in the first place. Result? Nerfed Tank.
And no, he won't care if someone tries to pick up the downed survivor.

And the SI-AI hasn't changed much. The only difference is that Hunter and Smoker got nerfed due map-layout and Boomer got nerfed and won't call a Horde every time.

I have both games but I have a lot more fun with friends in the first game. The second is too easy + melee and magnum make the game pretty boring. I enjoy for example Survival in L4D1 but it's not the same challenge in the second game..And don't tell me about glitches or ♥♥♥♥ cuz I'm doing it fair..And who the hell cares about popularity?! Get 3 to 7 friends and that's it! You have a full game with real players. People who claim that the second game is more popular make me feel sad for them..
