For me though, I have completely different opinions on most all of them depending on the Mode I'm playing within. Gaige is always my favorite though!
I also find he requires skill and not just relying on a body guard to duke it out for you.
Finally, dem haikus.
but I guess Axton is the easiest one, especially for new player - the turret distracts and helps, although I don't like waiting the loooong cool down time; but yeah, it's easy
later on you'll probably have no problem playing anyone, you'll just know what to expect and how to prepare yourself for that - e.g. equip fire weapons or close combat weapons for, say, varkids, have acid weapon ready when you go save Roland etc.
in a word - play the game carefully and smartly and you'll have it easy :D
What level were you when you decided that he was "boring"?
Using Deception you can heal yourself, flee from shots, lure melee-based ennemies, throw grenades without breaking it, throw kunais to hurt AND mark ennemies, get your shield back, heal partners without getting shot, and it's all about waiting a few seconds to make sure your next move will kill an ennemy. He does incredibly high damage to anyone, which IS useful.
Also, using Many Must Fall you can basically kill ten ennemies in a row and still be in Deception mode.
You can do a LOT while in Deception.
and maybe add bore to that :E
many times I wondered "hell, I'm sure there WAS a badass loader hidden behind this fire loade? where did it go? aaaa, he's down with 1 shot, L_O_L
For newbies I always say Axton or Gaige, with Axton being the easiest to pick up. His early and mid-level skills give decent benefits and his top-tier skills are OK. Gaige plays somewhat similar with Deathtrap, but some of her best skills are mid- or even top-tier, so early play takes more getting used to that with Axton.
