Couple years? She's close to 60, she's not going to die of old age for at least another 20 years.
Also, Salvadore probably is smarter than Brick in the first game.
Remember, Brick in the first game was known for barely being able to read and write.
I doubt Salvadore's steroid addled brain is that bad.
