I know that it is currently being worked on but any idea in the community about crowd funding?

They're not a public company, so I dont know how open they'd be to crowdfunding. Here, check this out it sheds some light on BL3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U97DkDkd0c8

I know i'm changing the subject, but i don't think i'll be buying the game. My father is going to die in a few hours.

I would say that the devs know with certainty they will make a big profit on this. Unless they do something daft, and all the reviews suck, probably many people (myself included) who played BL2 will buy it. Some won't, and some will join the BL bandwagon for the first time. IMO they won't need crowd funding, but it's not a bad idea at all.

BL2 is one of the longest lived and successful games there is. If BL3 is judged to be as good by customers etc, they will have a true gold mine.

Still, the bar is pretty high. BL2 has something "special," about it that makes people come back and spend heaps of time. I expect BL3 will have better graphics and technically better, may even have a fun good story like BL2. But will it have that something inexplicable that makes this game (BL2) such a delight? Have faith my friends!

I'm pretty confident that with a mix of old veteran writers from the Borderlands 1 days as well as a huge collection of new writers, the stories that will be told in any upcoming Borderlands game will be phenomenal, especially if the Battleborn easter eggs are of any indication of where the story will be headed!

Either way, I am looking forward to it so much! :D

How's that not a bad idea? Borderlands 3 is definitely going to happen and they have all the money they need to fund it.
Why should we, the consumers, throw any more money at greedy companies?

In the world of gaming, Gearbox is a big, successful development house. They have the connections and the financial infrastructure to get the funding they need from traditional sources (the game publishers, or even regular business loans), should they need such resoures at all.

From What Pitchford said at PAX West, they're even thinking of doing their own publishing this time around.

If they don't need it then it's a bad idea. You're right that they don't need it, so it's a bad idea.

Not even close.

Yes, you are right. I was wrong. They are sure to make huge profits.

Your first point. Yes, I conceed, I was wrong, (as posted above.)

Second point. It may not be the no.1, but I think it's fair to say it's right up there. Sales and continuing high player volume show it very very popular. Which games did you have in mind?

There must be a lot if "not even close."
Just curious incase I missed something. Please give a few examples. I'll buy them.

Wow, hey thanks man, that's a really interesting list! Mmmmmm... suppose I have to conceed my second point now too! Dam. I won't write posts after beers and half asleep anymore.
That list totally validates "Suck on my........" 2nd comment too. Cry cry.

@ Lord Cyphre. I actually bookmarked that link, thanks again.
I am not young, I hope this isn't the first sign of dementia!!

To give you a rough idea I was playing PS1 and Sega Saturn games when I was mid- twenties.
I had forgot about all those classics. It was good to see Red Dead Redemption. I had totally forgotten about that game, but the memorories flood back. It gave me many hours of gaming bliss. So did several of the other ones on the list too.

Now I'm going to the kitchen. There is an oven there. It's gas.
