Red tape recorder for TF2= Monkeys with Machine guns.
Hello there, the red tape recorder is insanely overpowered for both casual and competitive play- if there was any kindness in your hearts yous would make it less of a pain for engineers that dare to move 1 meter away from their buildings.

Agreed. This weapon makes it impossible to play engy in pubs, I can't imagine it in competitive play. IT was hard enough holding that gun up, when all you need is 3 demo stickies to blow it...Now you just need ANYONE to pair with the spy. Instant loss

I was just playing engi last night, 2 red tape spies+enforcer spy attacked my sentry nest. Sure I killed them, but all my stuff was a level one then I just got rolled by a heavy.

Yeah... that's kinda how it's supposed to work... so you kinda... don't know... lose to the other team?
I...i feel bad using RTR....Well i only use it for the cocky engi's...
I suggest valve lowers the speed of the deleveling and retains any metal stored in dispensers, but also adds that it takes an extra hit to remove the sapper.
Here's the thing: it's broken. If it weren't currently, it'd be a LOT more balanced.

They DID fix it, but the fix never actually worked.

Actually, I believe the fix did end up applying itself to Teleporters, but not Sentries or Dispensers; I'm not sure if the Metal drain for Dispensers was supposed to be fixed, but it certainly wasn't. The thing has been prone to glitches for quite some time, and considering the severity of the glitches, I'm surprised they still exist.

Playing as an Engineer against even a single Spy who uses this is incredibly frustrating, particularly if the enemy team has any sort of coordination. I'm dissapointed that Valve still hasn't fixed this weapon, since it clearly needs to be fixed in order for Engineers to have a chance against a Red Tape Recorder Spy.
Red-Tape Recorder IS the sort of weapon that would have a lot of bugs.
It doesn't. One of the only reasons why it is still around is because it's a promo item. I have not heard of a single promo item being removed.

no item has ever been removed from the game (except for season crates and keys), even the original hats and salvaged crates still exist, they just dont drop anymore
I might be a bit of an idiot, but why does the RTR equal Monkeys with Machine Guns?
Anyways, it would be fine if Valve had fixed the degrade speed properly.
